The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Threat Matrix - Daily Terrorism Threat
Threat Matrix: U.S. Terrorism
Terrorists could be just getting started
Full Story

New York City and Washington. Bali, Indonesia; Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; Istanbul, Turkey; Madrid, Spain. And now London.

When will it end? Where will it all lead?

The experts aren't encouraged. One terrorism researcher sees the prospect of "endless" war. Adds the man who tracked Osama bin Laden for the CIA, "I don't think it's even started yet."

"London Bomb–Related Arrests in Pakistan"
LONDON (AP) - July 19, 2005 —

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Elsewhere, British officials on Tuesday investigated whether one of the London suicide bombers used perfume bottles to make his bomb even deadlier.

Detectives are trying to retrace the four bombing suspects' footsteps, including a report in the Daily Mirror that Jamaican-born Jermaine Lindsay - one of the suspects - reportedly bought hundreds of dollars worth of perfume days before the attacks.

Scotland Yard refused to comment.

The metal perfume bottles could have been transformed into shrapnel in the blast. Investigators are still trying to determine what material was used in the four bombs detonated aboard three subways and a bus in the capital. At least 56 people were killed."

You know what else is curious about that? That was sent on the wires via a PR news release ... it seems like it's their way of letting people know they've got disaster-plans ready for the inevitable. "Don't worry, John Q. Public, we're prepared." I'm not reassured.

That is some very expensive shrapnel.

Somewhere I've read, probably here, about a significance attached to perfume. Surely there was an intended message (obscure to this point) in using the perfume.

Perfume has several values to the jihadis:

1. Sweet smelling for the self.
2. Highly flammable.
3. Shrapnel.

"Bush vows to fight on in Iraq, rejects pullout date"
Wed Aug 3, 2:21 PM ET

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "GRAPEVINE, Texas (Reuters) - In the wake of the deaths of 14 U.S. Marines in Iraq, President Bush said on Wednesday the best way to honor the dead is to complete the mission and he rejected any early U.S. withdrawal.

"We're at war. We're facing an enemy that is ruthless. If we put out a (pullout) timetable the enemy would adjust their tactics. ... The timetable depends on our ability to train the Iraqis, to get the Iraqis ready to fight and then our troops will come home with the honor they have earned," Bush said in a speech.""

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SAFEHOUSE DESTROYED; 10 SUSPECTS DETAINED

BAGHDAD, Iraq – Coalition forces conducted a raid in western Ramadi early Aug. 3 resulting in the capture of 10 suspected terrorists.

Upon arrival at the intended target, a local Iraqi citizen confirmed the building was being used as a terrorist safehouse.

When forces approached the building several suspected terrorists fled throughout the surrounding area. Six suspected terrorists were immediately detained and four were captured after they hid inside a nearby Mosque.

Iraqi citizens assisted the Coalition forces by pointing out the hiding place of the four suspects.

Prior to the raid, a male who lived in the safehouse came outside and told Coalition forces that terrorists were storing explosives inside where his two small children remained.

Coalition forces immediately rescued the children and escorted them away from the building. The children were safely reunited to their family.

The building was then destroyed by attack helicopters. Secondary explosions were seen. Additionally, improvised explosive device materials and weapons were found in the safehouse during the post-strike search.

The 10 suspected terrorists are currently detained for further questioning.

Thanks for those links.

I wonder why the London terrorists wouldn't have used Yeslam's perfume as a symbolic gesture?

Interesting factoid: “Yeslam” is represented by Benador Associates (aka Mansoor Ijaz)

I've seen him before and just looked back in my notes.

Zarathustra aka Cyclotouriste aka John Gobin Shaw

He's on plenty of watch lists. LOL
