THis is bull. Autism has gone up even though the offending element has been removed from the vaccines for a number of years. This is the most common untruth made by the pro-mercury crowd. Mercury WAS NOT removed from vaccines in 1999. This is a fact. It was recommended to be removed but it was not mandated. So the process to START removing it began in 1999. But it was not until late 2002/early 2003 that the majority of vaccines for children were thimerosal free. But further muddying the waters is the flu shot was ADDED to the schedule for children a few years ago and most versions of this vaccine contain thimerosal. All that being said, you also need to consider that it could take 3-4 years before a child receives a diagnosis. But for those following the numbers in California, we are starting to see a downward trend in the numbers of autistic children. The numbers peaked in 2002 and have been decreasing ever since. Good...I would like to see the evidence. The problem each side has an agenda. I don't think those who want it to be the mercury element have the franchise on honor. The motivator for this bunch seems to be hysteria and $.

As far as I know, few kids get the flu shots that you claim. I am not sure about that. But flu shots for children would not account for the spike in numbers.

If you/they want to run the vaccine companies out of business...fine, but then we wont have just 'autism', we will have a spike in childhood deaths.
