Oaths must accommodate all

There is a desperate need for a serious national conversation about freedom of religion.
Last June, a North Carolina judge, W. Douglas Albright, contended that the law of his state allows an oath to be taken only upon "Holy Scriptures" -- the Bible. He further declared that an oath on the Quran would not be a lawful oath.
But the First Amendment to the Constitution states that "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof."
Why should Muslims, Jews and others be asked to swear by the Bible? For obvious reasons, letting Muslims swear by the Quran would ensure that their oath is sincere and truthful.
Contrary to popular perception, Islam is no stranger to this land. The first Muslims are reported to have arrived in the Americas around 1530.
In all, an estimated 10 percent to 20 percent of the African slaves were Muslims. Historians have recorded that former slaves on Georgia's outer banks continued to practice Islam until the early years of the 20th century. However, faced with government and cultural hostility, the vast majority of these West Africans were converted to Christianity.

Inasmuchas their travels came in the wake of the Mongol conquest, there probably were early Buddhist and Daoist Gypsies.
There are still Moslem Gypsies in FYR, Egypt, Syria, etc. There are Pentacostal Gypsies in America.
Is this a surprise to you?
There need only be one requirement: That the book sworn upon contain an unambiguous statement that swearing falsely against thy neighbor is a crime against God. Otherwise you might as well swear on a plane ticket.
I'll swear in on a box of Krispy Cream Donuts!
That's from a time BEFORE Islam.
Can anyone think of even one culture that has had anything remotely good to say about islam since it's inception. Every where these rotters go throughout history, they are almost immediately despised by the peoples they come into contact with. Granted, Christianity has had its bad moments but for the most part has been a positive force on civilization. I guess I just don't see the point of "tolerating" this insane death cult in our society. Obviously no good can come of it.
Even Byzentine armies deserted to them.
You asked.
You should read more First Millenium history.
Yah but it took the muzzys to turn slavery into a major industry and form of commerce. And before you say it. I already know about the Romans. They were pikers compared to the arabs when it came to slavery.
Yes, I know that the world was filled with some really rotten people at the time. The entire area was rife with petty tyrants after the breakup of the old Roman empire. Some time people will accept the devil they don't know for the one that is all too familiar. Its only later that they find out that it wasn't such a good deal after all.
By the way. Your right and I am.
I heard that old Chris may have been jewish so wouldn't that be Christopher ben Columbus?
