It was Bush that asked the Gov and Mayor to order a mandatory evacuation, NOT their idea at all.

I dont' believe it's a "short memory" problem when it comes to the Dems and Libs, and the MSM. I believe many of them remember quite well, but they are hoping that we don't. Well, we do remember, and we're not going to let them get away with it. :)

If true, the President has indeed saved many lives.

That's BS. Look at the predicted storm track as of Friday.

Yep, the link on this thread shows it. Not only that. Why did Bush ask Gov Blanco to order the evacuation on Friday? IF they "didn't know where it was going to hit until Sunday" Faith?

on MSNBC say that Bush didn't order the National Guard into NO b

The President has no such legal authority. That order would have to come from the Gov of the State. Legally a President cannot order troops into a State until the State Gov ASKS for them.

Look. They're going to try and impeach this President. Mark my words. This isn't like the Clinton impeachment: the press won't provide cover this time, they will be on the hunt.

The lupine desire to blame the President is based (I'm guessing) on the idea that he was slow to coordinate a response because he doesn't care and he's a racist. The truth, I'm sure, is that he delegated responsibility right away to those at FEMA and homeland security. This was a logistical nightmare. The roads and bridges were damaged, and if you drop food from the air, it just gets wet (and ruined).

My point is that what the Democrats are doing is shameful, and we have to stick together and get ready for a long fight.

Sunday morning, I remember reading posts from freepers in the area of NO, saying that outbound traffic was still very light. Even late in the day, when the highways were jammed, southbound lanes were not turned over to northbound traffic (and under the circumstances that was utterly inexplicable).

I said on a post yesterday that someone needs to come up with a timeline for the sequence of who said what / when events happened.

I did a google search on "federal disaster request", an article that gives a good description of "disaster" vs. "emergency", who is supposed to do what when. Amazing.

GWB did declare a federal emergency on Sat, I think. What was the state doing?

This crap needs to be nipped in the bud before the MSM screws it up anymore.

Ditto for the "blame Bush because he cut the funding" or the "Bush destroyed all the wetlands (storm buffer)" arguments.

A post yesterday linked to Crintoon cutting the funding for upgrading the levee's, etc.

Fire the Gov and Mayor - what idiots.

Pardon me, but after Katrina hit Florida it was quickly a class 2 and then a 3 aiming for them 3 days prior to Monday.

The National Guard should have been positioned by the Govenor on standby, waiting to assist. The order for evacuation of the infirm, tourist, seniors, etc. should have already occurred before Bush had to yell ....."Wake up, FOOLS"

The jackazz mayor should have bussed his constituents out and got the Weepy Govenor to help if he didn't have the brains or means to figure it all out.

Locals should drag out the guillotine and wait for both fools to arrive. Their lack of planning and gambling with Mother Nature just cost thousands of lives.

*The only decent ending to Katrina would be to sharpen up the ole guillotine and dangle their heads from those two holes Katrina ripped in the top of the Dome.

I posted this not too long ago on another thread.

It shows all of the NOAA track maps for the storm, including watches and warnings. Hurricane watch was issued for NO by 10 AM CT Saturday. Forecast tracks had it close to the city as early as 11 PM ET Friday.
