Perry has been a rising star in the wake of Katrina...
What are his politics?
How conservative is he?
What is his background?
Has anyone vetted him for a run at the WH?

To your last question: Not only NO, but HELL NO!! We have enough RINOs up there in D.C.
What are his politics?
Republican... though some call him a RINO.
How conservative is he?
Conservative, but unable to stop spending our ca$h. The few tax cuts he has proposed he's been unable to get pushed through because of our idiot state senators.
What is his background?
Hometown: Austin
Previous Occupation: Public Official
Previous Office: TX House, 1985-1990; TX Commissioner of Agriculture, 1991-1998; TX Lt. Governor, 1999-2000
Governor 2000-present
Education: Texas A&M
Birthplace: Paint Creek
Spouse: Anita
Religion: United Methodist
Has anyone vetted him for a run at the WH?
Nope... the religious right has decided he's not conservative enough. See religion.
Perry is a do-nothing, go-along-to-get-along, moderate, big government Republican
In Austin, one friend who works at a daycare yesterday inherited an adorable 4-month old, who everybody's clamoring for, while waiting for parents.
My daughter's high school is absorbing 85 refugees Monday. They'll be the only blacks on campus.
I think the problem is the refugees are being taken in by people somewhat different culturally and I'm not sure if this is a good thing in the long run.
He's a former 'Rat ...pathetic RINO.
He's a converted Democrat who's a RINO now.
Kerry is dead set against a state income tax and is a friend of gun owners. I'll vote for him anytime before Grandma Strayhorn (Anne Richards redux).
Rick Perry looks good and he sounds good on camera. I was pleased that he represented Texas well this week.
As governor, he is a disaster.
I have voted for him, will not do it again.
There are a variety of reasons, the main two being:
-- his inability to forge any compromise on a long-standing school finance problem that has required three special sessions this year. Still no solution.
-- his horrible plan to cut huge scars through Texas for mega-multi-lane tollways, to be built and run by a company from Spain, the contractual details shady at best. Eminent domain, no public input till it was announced as a done deal.
I don't think Perry would be where he is if he hadn't been lieutenant gov and been elevated to governor when GWB was elected President.
Don't know who I will vote for next year, but it will NOT be Rick Perry, hair and all.
...What are his politics?...
He used to be (still is imo) a democrat.
...How conservative is he?...
See above, but conservative enough to at least try to hide a big tax increase to fund public education and to give lip service to protecting Texans from the Kelo decision.
...What is his background?...
Take a look at his hair. Pampered.
...Has anyone vetted him for a run at the WH?...
No, not to my knowledge. Thank God.
