Louisiana authorities DELIBERATELY MADE THINGS WORSE
Various (see article) ^ | 9/8/05 | Various

Posted on 09/08/2005 1:16:11 PM PDT by Politicalities

Folks, I'm sorry for the semi-vanity post, but THIS NEEDS TO GET OUT THERE. Tell your friends. Tell your family. Tell perfect strangers. Tell everyone. Frankly, I'm absolutely stunned that this isn't the top article on every single news site. I'm stunned that the blogosphere isn't buzzing about nothing else. Why hasn't this gotten the attention it deserved?

In short: the Louisiana Department of Homeland Security BLOCKED THE RED CROSS from bringing desperately needed food, water, and supplies to the Superdome and the Convention Center. This was done to deliberately make conditions worse. Why? Because they wanted people to evacuate, and I guess they figured that if the people there had the luxury of, say, CLEAN WATER, they'd be less likely to leave. So they made a willful decision to starve and dehydrate the people in the Superdome so they'd be miserable enough to leave... or, if they were weak, miserable enough to die, as a few of them did.

I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP. Check the Red Cross site:

Hurricane Katrina: Why is the Red Cross not in New Orleans?

Governor Blanco doesn't deserve electoral defeat. She doesn't deserve impeachment. She deserves to sit in prison for the rest of her life... or to hang by the neck until dead for inflicting on Americans what would be considered an atrocity if Americans inflicted it on anyone else.

And while this was going on, both the Mayor and the Governor were crying, "Where is the food? Where is the water?" The food and the water were sitting on trucks which were prevented from delivering them by the State of Louisiana.

Tell everybody.

I heard this on Fox News too. It is absolutely mind boggling at the stupidity of this governor. She wants the people to evacuate, but there were no plans put into effect to help evacuate those without any other means of leaving the city. The local government was supposed to use public buses and school buses to help evacuate these people. This did not occur. The use of buses was on the DVD mailed to the poorer sections of New Orleans, according to FoxNews.

I agree this governor needs to be charge with negligence for causing the deaths of thousands. When I heard about the Red Cross being stopped from leaving supplies at the SuperDome, this was the last straw. There needs to be a recall of this governor NOW.

Yes, but if the MSM won't report it, did it really happen?

"# As the remaining people are evacuated from New Orleans, the most appropriate role for the Red Cross is to provide a safe place for people to stay and to see that their emergency needs are met. We are fully staffed and equipped to handle these individuals once they are evacuated"

doesn't really seem to support your conclusion.

Oh, but it does. Now the Superdome and the Convention Center have been evacuated. Now the city belongs pretty much exclusively to the dead. Now all the Red Cross can do is go to the evacuation locations.

But if you'll recall, it took awhile for the Superdome and the Convention Center to be evacuated. During that time, people starved. During that time, people dehydrated. During that time, violence broke out repeatedly, as violence is prone to do among hungry, thirsty, desperate people. And during that time, Red Cross trucks idled on the road as Louisiana officials stood in their way and yelled STOP. STOP, because if you're allowed to pass, you might improve the conditions in the Superdome and the Convention Center, and we just can't allow that.

Stay calm, the story is out there. Jay Sevrin was blaring it out on the FM dial about five minutes ago.

The $2,000.00 debit cards have also caused a mini run on the local liquor stores, and they are partying hearty at the super dome at this moment, decaying corpses and all.

That was from Sevrin also, I have no other sources so it may all be a load of chit.

If I get bored in the next few minutes I will goggle for confirmation.

I still don't think anyone purposely made things worse. Well, no politician at least. They may have made things worse because of ineptitude. People shooting at rescuers made things worse on purpose.

That was yesterday.

TODAY, the NEW "reality" is that the Red Cross insists that it's THEIR decision to refuse to bring supplies into NO.

I listened to their drone explain it on Fox News this afternoon, and quickly realized that the lefties have circled the wagons, got their stories straight, and hunkered down. This is one storm they WILL manage to survive.

Disgusting.

"Hannity tends to do that."

Hannity does not always follow Rush's example. . .but even if he did. . .so what? He really has a different audience; different 'level' of what he brings to the table, so to speak. . .the more people hear. . .whatever level of concerns; then the better we all are.

I was one of the first people saying this on the Katrina live threads last week - people were flaming me for being a tin-foil case. I think Blanco got a call from the DNC, telling her to "go easy" on maintaining civil order, because that would make the FEMA job harder, and therefore the relief efforts more difficult, which could be kicked back at Bush.

The more I see of Blanco, the more I believe she could not be THAT stupid, and therefore something else is going on. The Dems and the media instant assault on Bush looked pre-staged to me - they were ready in advance to launch it.

I still don't think anyone purposely made things worse.

Listen carefully.

Those people needed food and water and medicine. All three were on trucks ready to be delivered. But the State of Louisiana stopped the trucks for the explicit reason that if aid were provided, people might not want to evacuate. And if aid were provided, more people might show up. In other words, they wanted to ensure that conditions at the Superdome and the Convention Center were bad... bad enough to discourage people from coming, bad enough to encourage people to leave. The Red Cross could have made things better... and that is why they were not allowed through.

That's deliberately making things worse.

Interesting considering they mandatory evacuation from areas that were NOT flooded and are not seriously damages.

I think the coruption in LA is alive and well.

The are going to try MASSIVE eminent domanin grabs.

I bet they "officials" will buldoze homes which are salvagable to induce people to leave.

People who had homes for decades will come back to an empty lot with no place to live and only survival option as selling the land.

Too bad New Orleans has a corrupt governor to protect them from a corrupt mayor.

(a coorupt governor who brought in a fema democrat in order to prevent a court order forcing a federal take over.)

If it is true that there was a delay caused by Blanco or she intentionally withheld the aid.. even for the reason that she gave... is bordering on criminal.... If She has done this just to try to make a political point or score some political capitol.. I speaks to the sad state of affairs that our political system has fallen into... the fact that a major party governer would intentional withhold aid from evacuees and that she would block both the federal and red cross offical is disgusting...

Really I could only see a few reason for her to do this...

first being what has been stated... she did it to give the admin a black eye....partisian activity...

second... Power play... Gov. Blanco is power hungry and refuses to allow an other orginization come in a wrest control from her... possible look at they way she is fighting Nagin to trying to evac NO....

third... she lost her marble soon after the storm and she is just being a front person that is acting as a mouth piece for either the DNC or handlers in her admin... (not likely... she seems pretty lucid..)

fourth...She is either that negligent or incompotent that she does not have a clue as to what she is doing, and in completed denial of the seriousness of the gravity of the situation...

If any of these 4 statements are near accurate she should no longer be in office for the sake of the people of New Orleans and the rest of lousiana.

I saw that too, but, it's understandable. Everyone is being evacuated in NO right now, so, there is no need for the Red Cross to be in NO now. However, they were ready, willing, and able to go into the Superdome and Convention center right after the hurricanre hit. They were refused access.

Good post.

They had all of the people who needed help in one spot instead of scattered about which would have made it impossible for relief to get to the people who needed it.

The state government claims that they didn't want the desperate people who were all assembled in that one location to have food or water so as to convince everyone to evacuate out of the city where they would surely not have found a way to get any relief. At the same time they refused relief for the people at the Super dome while forbidding them from leaving that hell hole.

The fact that these people have not been arrested and actually remain in positions of power is the most tragic and demoralizing thing of all.
