It is not stupid to support our troops.

No indeed it is not. However one can support our troops without agreeing with the mission. Or are you going to tell me that every 'conservative' (i.e. Republicans) fully supported Clinton's interventionism? Didn't think so. Were they unpatriotic for not supporting Clinton's nonsense? Why not? Because the wrong party started that police action?

It is not stupid to see the progress that's been made

Oh yes, democracy breaking out everywhere is it? How about that rigged democratic 'election' in Egypt just the other day? That's democracy just pouring from the borders of Iraq into the Middle East...And let's talk about progress. One of the few secular nations in the Middle East is on its way to be an Islamic Republic. All thanks to US intervention and getting rid of the 'evil' leaders. I can't tell you how much that warms my heart..

It is not stupid to recognize the fact that Afghanistan and Iraq were both a threat to us

And as yet, there hasn't been a valid argument that Iraq posed any sort of threat to our borders. What sort of threat Iraq posed to the borders of other nations (of which it really didn't) would be the business of those nations, not us.

It is not stupid to know the truth.

No, but it is to be so blindly loyal to a party even when nothing that's been said over the past three years has come to fruition and yet you still rally for them.

But I can't complain. The one thing I hope comes out of this more than anything else is a split. Either the interventionists who believe in American world leadership nonsense are ran out of the Republican party once and for all or conservatives get up and just leave the party and let it come to its own ruin instead of trying to save it.

Great post, Tonk. I don't dispute anything you've posted there.

For the first time in our history America sent it's young men and women into a war run by inept politicians who had no grasp of military strategies and no moral will to win.

I do, however, rest my case.

Find one example of conservatives pounding drums outside of the Impeached Rapist's White House over his Kosovo wag of the dog. Find one example of conservatives picketing wounded soldiers from Kosovo.

"We're fighting them over there so we don't have to fight them here" argument certainly didn't work for Spain or Great Britain.....

Just like to get your feelings on where you think all the "foreign freedom fighters" in Iraq would be if not in Iraq being taken on by our's and the Iraqi Troops?

You don't honestly believe that the majority of them would be at home making peace with their neighbors?

Do you thinks its likely they might be attempting to cause mischief in another country if their attention was so taken up by Iraq? Just wondering.....

This just about sums up my reasons for opposing this stupid war since Day 1.

1. You're not making any sense. There aren't any "reasosn" to oppose the war in that paragraph at all, it's merely a recounting of the history of one bill.

2. Stuff like this...

No legitimate national security concerns were cited for this dramatic and serious shift in policy.

...is why I think Freepers who are fans of Ron Paul have had a large protion of their brain removed. Clinton cited any number of legitimate security concerns when he advanced that bill. Clinton specifically cited the possibility that Iraq might pass WMDs to terrorists or use them on U.S. troops or allies. If preventing that is not a "legitimate national security concern" in Ron Paul's world, he deserves a Darwin Award. Heck, he deserves a lifetime achievement Darwin Award.

As a Freeper who opposes the war in Iraq, perhaps you'd be brave enough to answer... As a conservative who opposes the liberation of Iraq, perhaps you would like to answer my Big Five Questions of Ultimate Iraqi Wisdom. There are few takers, but I’m sure you’ll answer up instead of hiding under your desk.

The Big Five Questions of Ultimate Iraqi Wisdom!

Finish one or more of the following sentences and show us the boffo supra-genius reasoning that lead you to it:

1. Iraq was not a terrorist state, and my case for this assertion is...

2. Even though Iraq harbored, trained and funded terroists, it was not a legitimate target because...

3. We should not be fighting the War on Terror at all because...

4. The current level of military casualties in a 3 year war that started with the slaughter of 3,000 noncombatants on our home soil in 90 minutes is a huge problem because...(Note: Before answering this question, you may want to review the number of casualties experienced by the U.S. in WWII, or at Shiloh or Cold Harbor, or in any particular week of the Tet Offensive.)

5. If we leave terrorist states up and running, I foresee the next major terrorist attack will be prevented by...
