Jagger, "You can't always get what you want."
Old Catholic Church, "Yes you can."

Nothing Catholic about it.

Dear bornacatholic,
"Jagger, 'You can't always get what you want.'
"Old Catholic Church, 'Yes you can.'"
Yes, but are they getting what they need?

"You will know them by their fruits"
has more than one meaning in this case...

The Old Catholic Bishops were locked out of the first Vatican Counsel when they made it clear that they would not support the doctrine on Papal infallibility? If you wish to "protest" against the Church fine. The word for that is protestant. You insult your own intelligence by continuing to have the word Catholic in your name. There is nothing Catholic about you.

WHY is this in "Breaking News" rather than "Religion"???

No Catholic should be separated from the Sacraments because of their choices of when, and how to form a family. No absolutes.
Family: six women, ten men, some homosexuals, some bisexuals, some transsexuals, babies by whomever.
Choice.
This is the kind of press that appeals to young people or people who want to do exactly what they want, because it feels good, and they want to be VALIDATED for it.
RELATIVE MORALITY.....just what Pope Benedict has warned against for decades.

hmm do they have Rev. "DNC" Wallis as an advisor too?
Nothing old there other than the word "old".

CINO's - plain and simple.

It would be more credible if the author had spelled "canon" and "canons" correctly and had observed subject-verb agreement throughout the article. As it is, it reads as if it was written by a junior high school student spellchecker fanatic who failed to use a grammar checker.
It is sad for other reasons as well. The ORCC was at its schism a very conservative church that has drifted further and further into error. It is leading many astray.
Sad.

Sounds like a get together in a large building for feel gooders. Nothing like the Catholic Church I know. No thanks.

The prime mission of the Catholic Church (as with all Christian churches) is to protect and spread the Faith and prepare their parishioners for "Eternal Salvation".

Absolutely!
After all .. it is not what "you" want.. it is what God wants...
I pray for all who do not journey down Christ's path..

They use scientific evidence to determine the canon of the Bible? I wonder what kind of scientific evidence is available to determine if 1st and 2nd Maccabees are inspired.
Several years ago there was a story in the local paper about an OCC priest starting a church here. The pastor of the Catholic Church was quoted welcoming him to town. The Old Catholic Church is still listed in the yellow pages but I have no idea how many people they have attracted.
