I live in Southern CA. where hispanics work as harder or harder than anyone - there are always organizations who find reasons to complain.

"How do you treat people that just want to walk across the bridge and get out, and theyre turned away, because you cant come to a certain parish?" the embattled mayor complained. "How do resources get stacked up outside the city of New Orleans and they dont make their way in? How do you not bring one piece of ice? Ask the officials of that other parish (Democrats) and the Governor (Democrat). Don't dis the President, who declared a state of emergency before the hurricane hit, which while not unprecedented, is rather unusual.
Oh, and you might ask why no buses came to carry those folks across that bridge and across those other parishes as well, but you'll have to look in a mirror to ask that one.

Interesting interview with LA Treasurer on local cable news.
They asked how much he thought LA should contribute to rebuild and he said "well federal government will pay for that and they will take care of the victims".
Doesn't sound like they lost too much revenue to hear him talk, but he also said that they will "tighten their belts" and there "will be no new spending over $250" (yes that's $250 dollars), maybe our govt should consider the same (?)
FEMA is not a charitable organization, hopefully they will keep that in mind and leave the charity to the Red Cross.

Oh Mayor Nagin....don't you get it? We don't hate black people. We hate lazy, shiftless, raping, robbing, killing looters.
We'd hate them if even if they were green with purple polka dots.
It's NOT the color of the skin you jackass, it's the content of the character.

Initially the plan called for "evacuation." The concept wasn't too hard was it? I mean, they wanted to get the people
OUT of there. And then, when the Katrina hit the fan, the plan magically changed to keeping people
IN!
Who altered the plan? And why?

At some point you have to drop the "poor me" issue and get off your butt and take care of yourself.
Because self-sufficiency would kill organizations like Jesse's Monochrome Coalition. Ol' Jess won't stand for it.

He *does* make a valid point. The cops of that New Orleans suburb, blockeed off the end of the bridge coming from tye city, and wouldn't let anyone come into their
parrish/suburb/town, not even to use the roads to travel through it...They have to answer for that, and the ones
that gave them the orders not to let people out of the
city. *That* *does* smack badly of racism, at first blush.

This guy is unbelievable. I wonder if he still wearing that same damn t-shirt that he met the president with. He needs to take a long vacation on Gilligan's Island along with "mommy" Blanco..

Like most horrific failures by public officials, there will be so much lying going on to save themselves, the truth will probably never be known.
Future generations may not even believe there ever was a Hurricane Katrina.
I remember reading a great quote about the myths surrounding Elvis Presley. It was something to the effect, there was so much mythology swirling around about the death of Elvis Presley, future generations may question whether Elvis Presley ever even lived.

"Nagin let 700 hotel guests cut in front of the line at the superdome." I' m beginning to suspect this was done, due to the fact this feckless Mayor KNEW he couldn't protect them from the "fine citizens of New Orleans" --- and wanted to avoid further ugly racial hate crimes by blacks against whites.....

""How do resources get stacked up outside the city of New Orleans and they dont make their way in? How do you not bring one piece of ice?" Good question Nagin. Could it be because you and your useless Governor said "we don't need any help"? The truth is you though you had escaped the storm and your incompetence wouldn't be discovered. But them the Levee broke, your police abandoned their jobs, your leaders scattered like rats, your lines of communications failed, and you Nagin, FAILED. Failed to utilize the resorses available to you when you should have, BEFORE the storm, FAILED to have a command and control Structure, FAILED to plan ONE SINGLE THING. And now you have the NERVE to try blame others. You belong in prison Nagin. This isn't over yet.
