Roberts: Day Four Set to Begin

On Thursday, the members of the Senate Judiciary Cmte. continue with a third round of questioning. Then six different panels of out- side witnesses deliver their views on the professional and personal suitability of John Roberts to be appointed Chief Justice of the United States. This testimony will take the entire day.

From what I have heard, yes, Roberts is noticeably better than most when he appeared before the SC. And I believe he has argued before them more than anyone else. That's the reason he has the support of dem lawyers who know him. I also heard Linsey Graham say last night that he believed that Roberts was SO good before the committee, that he will get most votes, even from the dems. That they could not NOT vote for him. I love it!

Democrats are lining up to ask Judge Roberts more questions about the happless California toad next week.

Even when not in session, you'll note the same Democrat Senatorial decorum remains.

I think the Dem's are clueless on this one. If they vote for him now they will have to face the wrath of their own special interests e.g. ACLU, NOW, etc... for backing him. They will also have a pretty tough time turning someone comparable down for O'Connor's seat. If they don't vote for him, they will have a pretty tough time explaining why.

That's the problem, isn't it? Who wants someone making decisions like that who is so enigmatic? He should have a more established dignity or something. At first I was impressed with his charisma, but that soon wanes.

I cant really speak about how J. Roberts has answered and appeared.

It is though a sad state of affairs that the libs influence control the SCOTUS that much. That unfortunately is the political reality of the present.

But perhaps some of this is some DEM grandstanding for their base.. I hope it is.

I would like to see Bork in there, at least for a few years. We need more like Bork and Thomas.

Believe it or not I have went without TV for a good while. I use the INET and papers. I need to get it going again though, for the financials and the world news.

I think you can get all the news anyone needs from the Inet. Watching news on TV can be so redundant. It is the same thing over and over again. And so much sensationalism.

Do you think the Dems have much control at all in these SC confirmations? There are 2 SC justices to confirm this year! The Supreme Court justice is such an important postion that controls such public policy as abortion and gun control in this country. I think we should all be aware and very concerned with what is going on.

Who is Bork BTW?

I guess Robert Bork was before your time. IMO he is the most exemplary & qualified person to be a SCOTUS candidate in my memory.
What the Dems did to him during his nomination coined the the term 'being borked'

"Bork's texts on law typically are based on the Framers' original understanding of the United States Constitution, and in his texts he argues that constitutional text should be interpreted based on such understandings. He wrote of the result of what he considered loose interpretations of the Constitution: "We are increasingly governed not by law or elected representatives but by an unelected, unrepresentative, unaccountable committee of lawyers applying no will but their own." Reiterating that it is the Court's task to adjudicate and not to "legislate from the bench," he has advocated that judges exercise restraint when authoring opinions and dissents. Bork's views have influenced the legal opinions of conservative judges such as Associate Justice Antonin Scalia and former Chief Justice William Rehnquist of the U.S. Supreme Court."

Know this is late. Spelling was not my best as you can see. I find that in my young years of seventy. I see what I thought I spelled but see the mistake a while later (goes for what I want to say to). That said I correct the spelling to "parrot". I thank you for the polite way you pointed out my mistake.
