Or a US Senator Blackwell, so we could all benefit?

Sorry we need him here after 8 years of Bob Shaft (RINO-OH)

OMG!

Aaron Broussard, the crybaby from Tim Russert's show, is being interviewed on ABC right now.

Joe doesn't hear it if he doesn't want to.

He's infuriating.

I am LOVING Barbour:) He just said "we're not into moaning and groaning and victimhood...black and white...working together"

"They got federal money to fix the levees and never did it"

Been hearing that a lot lately.

Apparently, Nagin spent the dollars on casinos and hotels. Yet, there is still way too many (75%) unemployed in NO.

Now, the hurricane took it.....we will ALL pay again & again.

well at least you aren't calling the President "dumya" :)

Honestly the level of the spending will be nothing if we don't get that port operating. I do have qualms about it, but there really isn't anything else the GOP can do, unless it wants to be a permanent minority.

Assuming this is temporary spending, i.e. it won't be renewed (and I don't believe it is intended to be so), the improvements, jobs created and consumption from the money created by those jobs will pay for this in a couple years.

What do you do for people who have lost everything?

We give them a hand up and while we're doing it, we leave the Great Society in the dustbin of history and promote ownership, individual responsibility and put a hammer in the hand of every man and woman who will be getting help from the government getting a new home. That's what a compassionate, conservative nation would do.

What have YOU done for these folks. Anything?

I sent money to the Salvation Army but my wife has volunteered to spend weeks down there doing whatever needs doing under the auspicice of the Red Cross. Damn fine woman I married all those years ago.

Shakespeare may have been wrong when he said "kill the lawyers."

Others deserve it more. (thinking of MSM)

Krauthammer just said he sounded like LBJ and the Great Society

Nina said that.

Krauthammer said it was a fabulous speech.

Look, like it or not, an American city has been almost totally destroyed. Fixing it will not be free. It is going to cost money, and some of you folks look really silly complaining about the spending. The reality is that this is going to cost all of us big time. Get over it.

And remind me? Who builds American cities to begin with? - Is it the Federal Gov't?? Is that a new role for the Federal Gov't in modern America?

It is ridiculously silly to rebuild a city below sea level again and then do so with our wallets wide open (they are already overspending their estimates by $1 billion a day! - If you rebuild an entire city on the Federal dime it will cost at a minimum 500% more...at the min level. Then if it were rebuilt by those individuals who wanted to be located there or by the State and local levels - Federal dollars will be wasted faster then any of us can even imagine. It is already happening). It is foolishness to say "oh well, what can we do" -
