I'll be riding out the storm in Northwest Houston. The loss of power for an extended period of time is what I'm most worried about. Thanks for the prayers everyone!

I'm here in Katy, Tx and my husband and I are staying. I am a native Houstonian so I have family throughout the area. Many live near the Galveston and Clear Lake area so they are moving to higher ground.

I will try to check in during the storm. We have 2 lap tops and have charged the batteries.

Thank you, Howlin!

We are staying home in Willis, Texas (on Lake Conroe) praying for the best, preparing for the worst. Children and grandchildren are coming from Galveston Co., Kemah, and Houston to stay here with us.

I'm home. Whew, traffic is about as gridlock as it can get.

Texas - Houston - Southwest - Westbury

The call phone system is about overloaded, gas stations are running out of gas, stores as far north as Huntsville are being depleted.

American72 here in Spring Branch signing in. Were going to evacuate, but no way to get out with all the traffic. My dad, BnBlFlag, mom, brother, sis-in-law and kids made it to our house from Chambers County, where they were under mandatory evacuation orders. Lots of people in my small house! We'll be praying this thing turns, weakens, or passes quickly and we're not without AC for days on end!!

I live in SW Houston, but have moved to a friend's house in the NW area. Due to my work situation, I was unable to evacuate early enough to get out of town. It took 5 hours to drive the 22 miles to get here.

My brother and sister-in law left Houston at 4:30am this morning and arrived at their destination at Lake Placid in Seguin around 7:00pm -over 14 hours to cover approx 180 miles.

My other brother has been traveling all day from Houston to Lake Placid and as of several hours ago, he was still over 100 miles from Seguin.

Hi Freepers. Checking in from Lufkin. Have already started having wind and a little rain. Can hardly believe it but I have family members who are already without power. Ours will probably not hold out throughout the night.

As I posted on the Rita thread, things are pretty frightening here. We're as ready as we can be and are praying hard for everyone in Rita's path.
