Do you recall a year or more ago, we had a report of bullets in crushed clam shells for driveways?
As I recall, they were large ones not small.

Georgia’s interior minister said a man who admitted throwing a live grenade toward US President George Bush during a rally in the ex-Soviet nation was acting alone and had no links to any foreign special services.
Interior Minister Vano Merabishvili said Vladimir Arutyunian, who was indicted in September by a US grand jury on charges of trying to assassinate the president, will face trial in Georgia soon.
“Arutyunian was a terrorist acting alone,” Merabishvili told the 24 Hours newspaper.
Arutyunian faces terrorism and murder charges in Georgia stemming from the May 10 incident in Tbilisi and the killing of a policeman in a shootout before his arrest in July.

The parent company of a Northampton explosives plant was fined more than $1 million Monday for falsifying records to
conceal explosives shortages at three locations, including the plant on Nor-Bath Boulevard, over the past two years,
U.S. Department of Justice officials said.
Austin Powder Co., one of the country's largest federally licensed explosives manufacturers, was ordered to pay
$500,000 in fines and $510,000 in forfeiture to the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Assistant U.S.
Attorney Bruce Brandler said.
He said that on Oct. 17, 2003, ATF agents discovered that 55 pounds of hydromite, a blasting agent, was missing from
the Northampton plant at 559 Nor-Bath Blvd. and officials at the plant attempted to cover it up.
''The company falsified records, making it appear that this 55 pounds of hydromite was used at a job site when in
reality it was missing or stolen,'' Brandler said. ''This is a significant amount and a serious crime.''
The Northampton plant's federal explosives manufacturing and distribution license has since been revoked
permanently, he said.
Brandler said the investigation into Austin Powder, headquartered in Cleveland, began in September 2003 when ATF
agents and the Washington, D.C., metropolitan police made an undercover purchase of high explosives.
The undercover agents discovered that those explosives were stolen from an Austin Powder delivery truck out of
Greencastle, Franklin County, and then traded for cocaine, Brandler said.
ATF agents searched the Greencastle plant and after reviewing records there discovered that false entries were made
regularly to cover up missing explosives, Brandler said.
Searches were conducted at several other Austin Powder facilities to see if they were doing the same thing, Brandler
said.
Federal agents discovered regulatory violations, such as improper storage of explosives and failing to notify ATF
agents of certain problems at facilities on 29 sites in 19 states, Brandler said. Three facilities — in Dixon, Ill.,
Greencastle and Northampton — committed criminal acts by falsifying explosives inventory entries, Brandler said.
In August, after a plea agreement and administrative licensing settlements, the ATF permanently revoked the federal
explosives licenses on the Greencastle plant, and others in Palmyra, Va., and Raleigh, N.C. The Northampton facility
operated under Greencastle's license, Brandler said. Ten other sites received temporary revocations.
Austin Powder makes industrial explosives and accessories and provides blasting services to customers throughout
the world. The company began in 1833 and has 65 facilities.
In past years, Austin Powder's Northampton facility, which once stored 350,000 pounds of explosives, drew concerns
over safety whenever plans to build near it were proposed.
The person answering the phone at the Northampton facility referred all questions to corporate offices in Cleveland.
Calls there were not returned.

Easton police ask if recent shooting is tied to 'South Side Mafia' crime

An Easton man who was shot in the chest last week in the city had another near-death experience in March, when he
was stabbed in the chest, police said.
Investigators say they are looking into whether the Easton stabbing and the shooting of Jason Oliver, 23, are related.
They also are checking possible connections involving another shooting Oct. 2 in the West Ward outside Frinzi's
Charcoal Pit, 1110 Butler St., Easton, where 19-year-old Jeffrey Sampson of Bethlehem Township was shot in the face
while in a van.
Oliver was stabbed March 26 outside the Weston Club in the 1300 block of Lehigh Street along with another
29-year-old man, whom police have not identified. Both recovered from their wounds.
Police said the stabbings happened about 3:15 a.m. in a fight involving four or five men. No arrests have been made.
At 1:25 p.m. Wednesday, Oliver was shot in the chest as he stood at Eighth and Spruce streets in the city, a block
from the county courthouse.
Police have said Oliver, who is recovering from the gunshot at Easton Hospital, has not cooperated with detectives in
their attempts to find the shooter.
In court records, police have identified Oliver as a member of the ''South Side Mafia.''
Oliver's adult criminal career began May 24, 2000, when police saw him driving a dirt bike on city streets.
He later pleaded guilty to fleeing and eluding and to receiving stolen property. He was fined $250 and ordered to
serve three to 12 months in county prison, told to perform 10 hours of community service, and ordered to get his
general equivalency diploma. At the time, Oliver was living with his grandmother, Ruth Oliver, at 322 Coal St., Easton.
In court records, the police report lists, under Oliver's affiliations, ''South Side Mafia.''
On June 29, 2000, police saw Oliver hanging around 363 W. Berwick St. and during a pat-down search, they found
10.4 grams of cocaine on him. He pleaded guilty June 11, 2001, to possession with intent to deliver cocaine. He was
fined $500 and ordered to serve seven to 14 months in the county prison and to perform 20 hours of community
service.
On Sept. 6, 2000, Oliver drove Emery Clark III, 25, of 1116 Pine St., Easton, to Northampton County Prison. Clark
climbed a fire escape and flung a 13.4-gram bag of marijuana over a fence to the prison yard.
Oliver pleaded guilty to conspiracy to deliver marijuana. He was ordered to serve one to three years in county prison.
Clark pleaded guilty March 16, 2001, to conspiracy to deliver marijuana. Clark was sentenced to 11 to 24 months less
one day in prison.
A juvenile reported that Oliver on June 29, 2004, punched him in the face at 487 W. Berwick St., Easton. Oliver
pleaded guilty to simple assault on Jan. 11 of this year and was placed on probation for 12 months.
The juvenile later reported that Oliver on June 29, 2004, offered him money not to pursue charges in the assault. The
juvenile also told police Oliver drove by him making ''sounds imitating automatic gunfire.'' Oliver on Jan. 11 pleaded
guilty to intimidation of a witness. He was fined $250 and ordered to serve a county prison term of time served to 12
months.
In addition to the criminal cases, Oliver has a protection-from-abuse order against him from Chanell L. Jones of 2820
Middletown Road, Bethlehem Township, issued June 24 in Northampton County court. The order is in effect until Dec.
24, 2006. Jones, listed as the mother of Oliver's daughter, said Oliver has threatened to kill her.

It appears that the whole _______world went out and dumped all the weapons they could find and wanted to get rid of.

Yes, I am aware that he terrorists say that it is all about religion and that there can only be one in the world, theirs.
But I am picking up a line here and there, that leads me to think that it is changing just a little, that some of the leaders are simply insane and think that 'they' will be the only ruler of the world.
They think nothing of killing a few muslims, if it is all for the cause.
In the two years that I have read little else, there is a change in the messages and interviews.

U.S., IRAQI FORCES SWEEP UP 49 TERROR SUSPECTS
BAGHDAD, Iraq -- Task Force Baghdad Soldiers, along with Iraqi Security Forces, conducted major combat assaults, dubbed Operation Clean Sweep, Oct. 28-29 in south Baghdad.
The operation netted 49 terrorists and a large weapons cache.
Soldiers assigned to 1st Battalion, 184th Infantry Regiment and Iraqi forces from the 4th Public Order Brigade swept through the eastern al-Rasheed district Oct. 29. The multi-pronged assault resulted in more than 350 target houses searched and the detention of 33 suspected terrorists.
Bomb-making materials were also found at several of the target houses.
In an earlier mission Oct. 28, 1-184 Inf. Soldiers detained 16 terror suspects and discovered a large weapons cache during a cordon and search.
The cache was hidden in a second-story crawlspace underneath a bathtub and included 13 AK-47 assault rifles, three MPK machine guns, 20 AK-47 barrels, one pistol, U.S. currency and an ammunition stockpile.

U.S. SOLDIERS STOP TERRORIST PLANTING BOMB
BAGHDAD -- Task Force Baghdad Soldiers stopped a terrorist Oct. 29 as he tried to emplace an improvised explosive device in an Abu Ghraib neighborhood.
This individual is suspected to have emplaced and detonated other IEDs against Iraqi Army units in eastern Abu Ghraib.
The terrorist was observed by Soldiers from the 1st Squadron, 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment as he rode up on a bicycle and emplaced what looked like a bag having suspicious wires coming out of it.
The Soldiers, determining the suspicious bag was an IED, shot and killed the individual.
The IED exploded moments after the terrorist was shot, but no damage or injuries were reported.
After sweeping the area, the Soldiers found another IED on the terrorist’s bicycle. An explosives disposal team later destroyed the bomb through a controlled detonation.

AL QAEDA FOREIGN FIGHTER FACILITATOR KILLED
BAGHDAD, Iraq – A Saudi-born member of al Qaeda involved in smuggling foreign fighters into Iraq was killed Oct. 29 as he attempted to flee Coalition Forces.
Multiple intelligence sources and tips from concerned citizens led Coalition Forces to a location near Ubaydi where a senior Saudi al Qaeda foreign fighter facilitator known as Sa’ud (aka Abu Sa’ud) would be located. Upon arrival at the location, Coalition Forces attempted to secure the vehicle containing Sa’ud and other terrorists when the driver tried to escape. Coalition Forces shot at the vehicle, killing Abu Sa’ud and three unknown terrorists.
Abu Sa’ud, a Saudi extremist, was a senior al Qaeda terrorist who funneled foreign fighters and suicide bombers into Iraq. Intelligence sources believe that Sa’ud recently arrived from Saudi Arabia to shore up the leadership of al Qaeda in Iraq foreign fighter and terrorists cells whose previous leaders have been captured or killed in recent months.
Coalition Forces were informed that an alleged meeting was being arranged in the coming days in which Sa’ud was to take control of foreign fighter facilitation in the al Qaim and Husaybah region. It was also believed that Sa’ud would take on a more active role in the planning and execution of operations against Coalition Forces.

Despite Media Battle, Terrorists Fail to Stop Progress in Iraq

WASHINGTON, Oct. 31, 2005 – Despite a desperate media battle in Iraq, terrorists are failing to stop Iraqis from advancing on the political and security fronts, a senior military official in Baghdad told reporters Oct. 30.
"To the terrorists, the media is a vital force multiplier," said Air Force Brig. Gen. Donald Alston, director of strategic communications for Multinational Force Iraq during a briefing at the Combined Press Information Center in Baghdad.
That's why terrorists targeted Baghdad's Palestine Hotel, a base for many media outlets, during an Oct. 24 car bombing, Alston said. He called the bombing a signature al Qaeda attack, set to inflict as much death and destruction as possible while guaranteeing maximum media coverage.
"(Terrorists) attempt to use the media to appear more capable than they really are and to intimidate others with attack videos and Web site postings," Alston said. Desperate because they can't gain credibility any other way, they resort to "mindless destruction at the media's front doorstep," he said.
A letter from al Qaeda's second in command, Ayman al-Zawahiri, reflects that desperation, Alston said. Intelligence operatives intercepted the letter before it reached its intended recipient, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the main leader of terrorists in Iraq.
"We are in a media battle in a race for the hearts and minds of the (followers of Islam)," Zawahiri wrote, acknowledging that it's al Qaeda's only hope of success in Iraq.
But despite their efforts, "Zawahiri, Zarqawi and others have failed to stop the march toward democracy time and time again," Alston told reporters.
Terrorists failed to stop January elections, the seating and meeting of the Transitional National Assembly, and the drafting of the constitution and the referendum approving it, he said. "They will also fail to stop the elections in December," he said. Iraq's parliamentary elections are slated for Dec. 15.
Alston congratulated the 10 million Iraqis who voted during the Oct. 15 constitutional referendum. Eight million supported the draft constitution, and 2 million opposed it. These people, regardless of how they voted, seized the opportunity to decide their country's future and build a new Iraq, he said.
"A new Iraq is what they will have with the December elections when they select a permanent government," Alston said.
As the political process advances, Iraq's security forces are gaining in numbers and capability, he said. More than 207,000 Iraqi soldiers and police are patrolling the country's streets and borders, and the number of Iraqi battalions taking the lead in combat operations has jumped 50 percent since July.
"These additional forces allow us to continue to put pressure on the enemy every day of the week, and it is paying off," Alston said.
