E-mail I just received from Ken Mehlman ("Harriet Miers Needs Your Help!!")

Dear ------,

Today, President Bush announced his choice to succeed Justice Sandra Day O'Connor as the next Supreme Court Justice: Harriet Miers. Ms. Miers is the third woman to be nominated for the Supreme Court, and like Justice O'Connor is a legal trailblazer. Ms. Miers is an extremely well-qualified and fair-minded individual who is committed to interpreting the law instead of legislating from the bench.

President Bush selected Ms. Miers after embarking on a thorough and deliberate thought process. This confirmation however promises to be much more contentious than the confirmation of Judge John Roberts. Before Ms. Miers was even announced many Democrat groups said they would oppose her. They have no interest in giving Ms. Miers a fair hearing or vote. They are promising to throw every punch, make every accusation and pressure every Senator to oppose this nominee no matter what her qualifications may be. We have to be prepared to counter their actions and that is why Harriet Miers needs your help.

To ensure Ms. Miers is confirmed by the U.S. Senate, I need you to do three things.

1. Call your Senators. Tell them Harriet Miers has your support and deserves theirs.

2. Sign our petition in support of the timely confirmation of Harriet Miers.

3. Call talk radio, write a letter to the editor of your local paper and tell your friends and neighbors why you support the President's choice.

Harriet Miers has a record that demonstrates a commitment to faithfully applying the Constitution. For more information on the nominee, go to www.gop.com.

In the coming years and decades, the decisions the Supreme Court makes will greatly affect all of our lives. We need a jurist on the court who will not legislate from the bench, who will approach cases with an open mind and who will be fair. Ms. Miers is that jurist. Call your Senators. Tell them to vote yes on the confirmation of Harriet Miers.

Sincerely,

Ken Mehlman, RNC Chairman

Gerbil Stuffer? Have you heard stories?

Souter got "mugged" last year in the "stylish" neighborhood of DuPont Circle in D.C. where he was "jogging".

Harriet Mier's as Bush's choice for the SC is a "what 'ta hell" nomination ... it was tired, lazy choice. Others, younger and more qualified where given short shrift ... Laura Bush has been nagging George to appoint a women and he did ... one with only mediocre credentials, compared to others (not women) who would have been a better choice.

SCOTUS is not a political body. We should not be concerned with a particular candidates political or social leanings.

Ah, so innocent, so naieve. If you believe political or social leanings don't matter, then we can do business. I have this bridge, see and...

Got the same e-mail and replied: No, not this time. I won't support a crony from a third rate law school on blind faith.

Hey Ken, my mama has donated money to Dems, volunteered for the Red Cross and Meals on Wheels. She's a devoted grandmother. I know that she's a compassionate lady. Does that make her a well-qualified candidate for SCOTUS?

Even *I* was smart enough not to vote for, nor contribute to, the Rat party in the '80's and I haven't even been to law school! Come to think of it, I haven't supported a Rat EVER.

No thanks, Mr. President. Right now I'm busy cleaning my pitchfork.

"committed to interpreting the law instead of legislating from the bench."

I mean, he's GONNA say that, right? I don't believe him.

And the tax cuts aren't all that meaningful when he has continued to spend us into a deeper and deeper hole. I said it when Reagan was president and I'll say it again. Borrow and Borrow, spend and spend, is not a legitimate replacement for Tax and Tax, spend and spend.

And the spending in Reagans time looks tame next to what they're spending today. And we haven't had inflation since then either, so it shouldn't be that much different.

Lots of "people" of all "sexual" persuasions go "jogging" in "DuPont Circle." It is a "very" popular and tony "neighborhood" in "Washington."

If "that's" all you have to go on, then "I" don't get your "point."

There's no proof, she is going to be another Souter or even O'Connor either. In fact, she appears to be quite pro-life.

6) Has not done what is necessary to win the WOT, by presenting this as some kind of War Without Sacrifice.
7) Just caved into pressure and accepted premise that Feds destroyed New Orleans, and the notion that Feds have responsibility to pay all costs of rebuilding current and future disaster areas.

At least it wasn't a public bathroom.

Dear Ken,

I've contributed and worked my tail off for the past six years for this moment. Can I have my money back?

I agree: give me some reason to feel comfortable that that is indeed what she'll do.
