Harriet Mier's as Bush's choice for the SC is a "what 'ta hell" nomination ... it was tired, lazy choice. Others, younger and more qualified where given short shrift ... Laura Bush has been nagging George to appoint a women and he did ... one with only mediocre credentials, compared to others (not women) who would have been a better choice.

Got the same e-mail and replied: No, not this time. I won't support a crony from a third rate law school on blind faith.

Even *I* was smart enough not to vote for, nor contribute to, the Rat party in the '80's and I haven't even been to law school! Come to think of it, I haven't supported a Rat EVER.

No thanks, Mr. President. Right now I'm busy cleaning my pitchfork.

Name all the past STRONG conservative women in Federal Government. Then name all the women in Federal Government. Percentage wise we are screwed.

I just got the same email too and immediately clicked on "unsubscribe".

I'm fed up with the RINO party, and getting angrier by the minute about what this selection implies about where Bush's head is at.... Appease the liberals? We should be taking the fight to them. Can you imagine them appointing a center right or even a center left justice? No way. Ultra liberal all the way is the game they play. They shove it in our faces all the time.... We needed this pick to restore balance and shove something back at them for a change..... Unbelievable....

I know this is not PC, but I wonder how many of her advancements came about because she was a woman at a time when it was fashionable to put women in positions regardless of their qualifications. I'm not saying this is the case but I think it is a fair question.

Finally received this same email from Ken.

FWIW, here's my response:

Hi Ken,

Thanks for this email.  It was expected as I have already read plenty of comments about it from people who received it before me.  Look here, if you haven't already:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1495731/posts

In your email you wrote,

In the coming years and decades, the decisions the Supreme Court makes will greatly affect all of our lives. We need a jurist on the court who will not legislate from the bench, who will approach cases with an open mind and who will be fair. Ms. Miers is that jurist.
I certainly agree with the first two sentences of what you wrote. I have been saying, "It's all about the judges" for some time now.

Pardon me, Ken, but, as I understand it, she has no experience as a jurist.  Please give me a detailed explanation why I should believe your claim highlighted above.  Based on what?

IIRC, President Bush promised us a jurist, "in the mold of Scalia or Thomas."  I'm sorry, but I don't understand how Ms. Miers even begins to fit this mold.  Can you explain to me how she does?

Please don't misread me.  I feel Ms. Miers has a wonderful resume.  And if President Bush were appointing her to a lower Federal court, I'd have no problem with that.

As it is however... Sorry, Ken.  President Bush has once again disappointed me.  And, apparently, lots of others in the base as well.  Far be it from me to attempt strategy.  But it looks to me like, with the 2006 elections just a little over a year away, President Bush should be busting butt 24/7 to energize the base.  These types of decisions, as well as his total ignorance of the Criminal Invasion, do NOT energize the base.  Rather, this just encourages the Democrats to pick up their pace of denigration of the President and those who, mostly, stand behind him.

I really fear what may happen in 2006.

Cordially,

Upchuck
Aiken, SC

Before Ms. Miers was even announced many Democrat groups said they would oppose her.

Isn't this a lie?
