Ann Coulter just took apart SCOTUS nominee on the Mike Rosen show (My report)
Ann Coulter's appearance on the Mike Rosen show, 850am KOA ^ | This morning, Mon. Oct. 4th | Report from Mike Rosen show

Posted on 10/04/2005 10:39:32 AM PDT by ajolympian2004

Ann Coulter just took apart President Bush's SCOTUS nominee on the air during her appearance on the Mike Rosen show here in Denver on 850am KOA. She called for listeners to write their senators to oppose the nomination. Wish you could have heard it!

Ann said - "Totally unqualified", called Judge Roberts "a 'dream' candidate in light of this nomination", mentioned "cronyism" over and over. Much more that I'm trying to digest. I called the station to see if they saved the audio, but no luck on that. Mike Rosen was just about speechless as Ann went on and on about why this was a lousy choice.

I agree with Ann. Huge mistake and missed opportunity.

Ann's choice, Janice Rodgers-Brown. Not enough intestinal fortitude in the White House to go with that choice.

Can't wait for Ann's column on this nomination later this week.

Ann's column this week will probably deal with the 'maverick' (read: delusional, power mad, and out-of-control) Ronnie Earle!

As for her stance on Miers..... I think she is disappointed, as are many conservatives like me, in the President in that he is avoiding a fight. A fight that would bring into the open what the Dems consider 'mainstream' issues, like PBA and parental notification to take two examples. Let the Dems make statements during the confirmation hearings that it's a woman's Constitutional right to a partial birth abortion, and that it's a 13-year-old's Constitutional right to no parental notification for an abortion. The Pubbies seem to be running away from this fight, when the American people would be solidly behind them.

While Miers may not be the best qualified, it is simply ridiculous to act like she is some sort of coffee lady who takes dictation. She is a self-made corporate attorney who rose to the head of a large law firm. That is an accomplishment.

Hey now, Ann parlayed her own law degree into a position on Spence Abraham's staff. That's coffee and dictation on Capitol Hill, kiddo ;)

I've said it before, a mid-term election and an insatiable taste for pork is incentive enough for a party-line vote.

Again, it's rather funny that FReepers should naturally support the president no matter what, but not Republican senators.

Janice Rogers Brown was voted down 3 times I think, before the gutless 7 ran from the Nuke Option, do you think Bush forgot that?

Tell me when Brown failed to get 51 votes. Tell me where that "agreement", which specifically ended the necessity of a 60-vote supermajority for her nomination, said, "This agreement regarding the non-filibustering of Janice Rogers Brown doesn't apply if she is nominated to the Supreme Court."

Let's see. Two presidential victories, increased numbers in the House and Senate in 2000, 2002, and 2004.

He hasn't done much with those victories now, has he? 2006 and 2008 are the legacy years. As it looks now, we're in for a bloodbath. I pray that we go into the election years with *something* to show the conservative base that their votes weren't wasted. At the moment, when I look at my score-card, I see as many minuses as plusses.

I know, this unempolyed springmaker doesn't know anything about Miers. I just know I wish President Bush would have picked Judge Brown.

I want to have a fight, and screw the Rats and RINOS!!!!!!!!

Can you imagine the press if a Bush nominee is defeated... by conservatives?

That is an accomplishment. For Ann to denigrate this woman in this manner makes Ann look petty.

Agreed. That is, however, part of her schtick. Bombast is her middle name.

That said, Ann, if you are reading this, I am just the sort of guy to set you straight, call me...

She was Deputy Chief of Staff and then White House Council.

In 1985, she became the first female president of the Dallas Bar Association and in 1992 became the first woman to head the Texas State Bar.

You don't do the above without the talent, toughness, logic and ability to work with people.

She shows she is well liked on all sides of the isle to be Head of the Texas State Bar and had to pass lots of scrutiny to get that.

She's a tough cookie and seems to be a great pick since she's been working with Bush for a decade and has been his most invited guest to Camp David and his ranch to work.

This will turn out IMO like a less known but as conservative pro life version of Condoleezza Rice.

Which GOP Senators would do the fighting?

Those who don't should be exposed for the useless seat-fillers they are. They would be defeated in short order in the next election. An enemy you know in the seat is preferable to a 'friend' that abandons you when his vote is most needed.

"I want to have a fight, and screw the Rats and RINOS!!!!!!!!"

I, too, would love a fight, but... the most important thing is to get another true conservative on the court. Since the President has gotten many true conservatives on lower courts, I am giving him the benefit of the doubt here.

Usually, yes. But, yeah, they'd filibuster any overt conservative with a record---and that's what they won't have on Miers. Remember, "black" is not a skin color . . . it's a state of mind :)
