Too funny. It was a BOMB! It makes lots of noise and destroys things and people. Do you think the mooselimbs involved aren't expecting the press to talk about it and the FBI to come knocking on the mosque doors?!
I can see where they might feel compelled to not panic the public. If that's their argument then I don't agree. The scary part of all of this is that a dozen or more college football fans, enjoying a fall afternoon at a major university stadium, unwittingly escaped death at the hands of an inept (fortunately) converted muslim terrorist and the entire country is not aware of this incident?
I did a quick survey around the office and two out of 20+ had heard something about this in passing but were not aware of any details. Unreal...
Your scenario seems highly plausible. The only thing that bothers me is his apparent ignorance of the fact that checking or even prohibiting backpacks has for several years been SOP at many major stadiums, and for longer than that at rock concerts. If Hinrichs was part of a sophisticate doperation, and had trained terrorists as handlers, it seems they might have had another MO.

I think there is also an information war with terrorists with regard to their ability to use our media as a propaganda tool. The message that has been sent, probably over and over, is that unless they succeed spectacularly, they will get NO credit, no publicity, no reaction from the american and european public.
Call me crazy, but I believe that if only a single plane had been hijacked in 2001 and flown into the wtc tower (one of them), there would at least have been some effort to downplay the terrorist angle at first. I am not sure they could have but they darn sure would have tried. Maybe another suicidal pilot?

One investigator familiar with the case who spoke to WorldNetDaily on condition of anonymity suggested authorities may have known some sort of attack was coming, because witnesses reported tighter-than-usual security for the OU football game against Kansas State, which was under way at the time Hinrichs was killed.
For instance, the investigator said, witnesses reported that security guards were patting down and searching many of the more than 84,000 spectators who attended the game before allowing them inside the stadium – not a normal occurrence.
The investigator went on to say witnesses told him no such "frisking or patting down" occurred when they attended the OU-Tulsa football game Sept. 10, the last home game before the Hinrichs incident, according to OU's football schedule.
"[Stadium personnel] were looking for whiskey flasks under ball caps and ice chests, but no frisking or patting down," said the investigator.
Also, according to a statement from the office of OU President David Boren, bomb squads searched the Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.
"Prior to the game, the entire stadium was swept by the expert bomb teams with the help of dogs," the statement said.

No, it was his. It's been parked in his apartment complex parking lot ever since the bombing. Local media has shown it several times. It doesn't look like a late model Lincoln.
Somewhere here on FR as I've been reading this OKlahoma bombing story there was a post that included a pic. There were a bunch of face shots and the capiton, which are illegal aliens and which are 9/11 hijackers. Other than Atta - I wasn't sure of any of the other 6 or 7 pictures. I leaned one way or the other on several but wasn't at all sure.
I kind of knew that since if I recall you live in California and this happened in Ok.
