I would have to agree. Being born and raised in deer hunting country, most kids learn how to shoot and respect guns at a very early age. This article came from Racine, maybe not a typical WI city.
What scares the hoplophobes most of all is that the kids just might learn something positive about guns. If young people get familiar with firearms and learn to handle them safely they will hopefully grow up to be responsible gun-owning adults. The hoplophobes will thus have a tougher time pushing their gun-grabbing agenda in the next generation.
The City of Racine has often been referred to as Madison South, but the outlying county is becoming increasingly Republican. Some hunters down here, but not as much as more northern areas. We have a fairly large, and growing, inner city and gun violence problem.
This was a hotly debated item...the lefties knew it was an NRA coloring book, were completely livid to the point of organizing protests and taking to the streets. You have no idea what a significant, though seemingly small, victory this is in our neck of the woods. And yes, I do believe I heard a squealing sound coming from the skies the other day! lol
We're a county of about 200,000 stuck between Milwaukee and Kenosha, and despite massive voter fraud in SE Wisconsin, we were able to carry our county for Bush by more than 4 points!
Sorry for the long story, but it's very exciting to live in an area that has historically been a liberal bastian and see what a difference activism and a few well-placed conservative elected officials can make! YEEHAAA!
BTW, Jayne Siler is also a friend and I believe this article has taken some quotes out of context to make the intent ambiguous- she spoke out publicly in favor of the coloring books.
