My mom has been in the hospital with a respiratory infection for almost a week, and we learned today that doctors have found cancer. We don't know what type at this point (I don't believe it's at all related to the infection), or how serious it is, but the news was devastating. In addition, she has to battle this respiratory illness, which has been bad.
I'm praying constantly, as are the rest of my family. Cancer has killed two of my aunts and my grandfather, and this news hits everyone in my family hard. Relatives are coming to visit from all over the country, and I'm really thankful for it. We need family right now.
Please, pray for my mom.

Thanks so much to all of you for your prayers and words. I can't say how much it means to me.
My mom is a strong person, as strong a person as I know, and especially strong in her faith in God. I know that she prayed non stop when I suffered a burst lung when I was born, and I lived. My grandmother, who is a cancer survivor, flew in from California as soon as she heard my mom was in the hospital, and my dad's parents have been visiting every day. All of my relatives know, and our Parish's pastor knows. She has prayers going from all over the world.
Again, thank you all so much for your prayers. I and my family will be staying strong, keeping faith. It's what we have to do.

I will pray for your mom. And for you. I know where you're at, and it hurts so darn much. Know that asking for others help with prayer is the best first step to take. God bless you during this time. Keep us posted when you can.

I'm so very sorry that your Mom has been diagnosed with cancer, but so thankful that it was found, even if it was a nasty infection that led to the discovery. Now that she knows, she can take the steps to get rid of it, thank goodness.
