Could you believe it when they showed 97-year-old Al Lopez? Al Lopez! He was old when I was a little kid in the 60's!! I can't believe he's still around.
And he got to see the Sox back in the Series. How about that!
I knew he was alive and was wondering where he was! Was there at the game? Buck Owens is also still alive.
Lopez was remarkable to we kids that hung out at the back gate after every game, he would make the players stop and sign our caught balls and programs.. We would trade the signatures for hot dogs and stuff at the next game... :)
I regret that Sherm Lollar, Early Wynn and Nellie Fox are not around to see this. Fortunately, Billy Pierce and Jim Landis are still alive and they get interviewed once in a while.
Are you sure you saw Al Lopez? The guy I saw when they were talking about Lopez was Rollie Hemond, former GM for the Sox.
