This country was founded by people of a like mind and your opinion today is probably shared by a tiny minority at most. You are nothing like our founders, but you are allowed your opinion to self-grandise all you wish.

Have a nice night.

Been there, done that.

Only variation was the Jackboot was ordering me back into my car, in a voice I would not use on a dog.

Permanent damage to my right arm from his attempt to break it.

In modern America you only have those right you can a$$ord to defend with a good lawyer!

And the lawyer better be very damn good, perjury by cops is now the norm, not an exception.

You bought that fiction without ever actually giving it any real thought, didn't you?

If we have the right to travel freely (which we do), then in a world where driving is the only truly practical means of transport driving would HAVE to also be a right.

You can "lose" a right for gross abuse, if convicted of a pertinent crime, but you are born with all your rights intact.

And for a while there, I thought you had come to your senses.

At it's peak of support, the Revolutionary war was supported by 1/3 of the colonists at most. The rest of the colonists were either neutral, or (like you) supportive of the Crown.

We'll just have to leave this for another day. I have to get ready to go to work.

The people were all fed up with taxation.

Your minority view is totally in line with what I would expect an anarchist to post. Anarchist tend to want no laws also. Of course they might be the ones we'd see driving on the wrong side of the street into oncoming traffic thinking it was their right to do so.

Not all laws are bad and in a busy society some of the ones you don't like promote safety and are not all that bad at all.

The people were all fed up with taxation.

Some of us are fed up with yet another form of taxation, the "click it or ticket" form of taxation that you favor.

So what is it that motivates you? Fear, vengeance, anger, or frustration?

I really have to go now. Check back later.

So what is it that motivates you?

What motivates me to follow the laws of the road is that I want to drive on them.

If you practice what you preach and don't follow the laws to have a license, insurance & a compliant road worthy car it will only be a matter of time before the privilege of driving is taken from you.

One more time as I go out the door.

Driving is NOT a privilege.

You really need to stop thinking that way. Otherwise, some other right that you and others value may be taken away by the State and deemed to be a privilege.

Just stop it.

Driving is ***exactly a privilege*** and not a right on our public roads.

You have the equal right to apply, but if you fail to comply you are not allowed the privilege to legally drive.

That is a very socially liberal group that often sides with the ACLU, so that does explain your extreme minoriy view on this position.

"Did you really think we want those laws observed?" said Dr. Ferris. "We want them to be broken. You'd better get it straight that it's not a bunch of boy scouts you're up against... We're after power and we mean it... There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What's there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced or objectively interpreted – and you create a nation of law-breakers – and then you cash in on guilt. Now that's the system, Mr. Reardon, that's the game, and once you understand it, you'll be much easier to deal with." ('Atlas Shrugged' 1957)

All the concrete isn't under your wheels, there's a lot between your ears. He does not represent a "rare" point of view. Go back and review. He represents the majority point of view, both on this website and in America.

"A single-celled organism will fight to the death against restriction of movement.."

Because I am often sarcastic, I preface my comment so that it won't appear in that vain. This comment is brilliant in it's simple but eloquent logic. Bravo. Hope you don't mind if I use it, often. I am wondering the source, not that you could not have come up with it, but often on another topic, I see you blowin' smoke, so I'm just asking. (Sorry if this takes away from the earlier compliment.)

Please feel free.

I am pretty sure it's all me, but I've read and lived a lot over the past half century, so I could have seen it somewhere and just don't remember.
