Jefferson required no insurance by law to be in his driven carriage, nor were people like him being chased into courts for injuries they've caused others and having to be sued for payment of injury!

You'd have to be an idiot IMO to not cooperate at a legal Highway Patrol setup just as it would be driving drunk.

Gets some of the drunks off the road before they kill others.
At times they catch dealers of illegal recreational medications.
They check out that your car tire treads, lights, emissions, insurance and driver's license is all in order. That kids are in the proper child seats and that you are wearing your seat belt.

Is it a pain? Yep!
Should they do it? Yep, but never IMO in rush hours.

I did see them doing this in Rowland Heights California off an entrance to the 60 freeway during a busy time a month ago and that did NOT seem a brilliant idea.

I figure people might in their entire life get pulled into one of these once or twice. Should be no big deal, unless you are hiding something while traveling public highways.

In simpler English for you... today we have laws of the public road for safety, and even requirement of insurance, a license, a legal car and to be fit in order to drive our public roads. These laws are for public safety. Jefferson and others did NOT have the same high volume society to get around in, so had they lived now, I think they would have bitched some and then complied with the officers IMO.

You and I have had this conversation before. We don't have public roads anymore. We only have government roads. A "public" road is a road built and maintained by the public, upon which a member of the public has a right to peaceably travel upon between Point A and Point B in any peaceable manner and in or upon any contemporary conveyance. They don't exist anymore.

This whole conversation astounds me. A single-celled organism will fight to the death against restriction of movement, yet we have so-called "conservatives" striving to enslave themselves and the rest of us.

There once was a rather infamous roadblock (sort of) here in TN on I-40 between Knoxville and Crossville. The local Sheriff would set a sign out on the interstate (DRUG AND DUI CHECKPOINT AHEAD) about 100yds before the exit "AIRPORT RD". A road that went absolutly nowhere but the airport(I'm Sure closed at nite) and mabe a few rural homes. Anyone who was dumb enough to take this exit was in for major grilling as to what his business was on this rd.

They got their big drug bust there a few years ago but it was tossed out.

I had passed that sign once about 5 years ago but I think they have rethought that stop since then.
