So, the Buddhists have no God? The Muslims have no God? The Jews have no God?

They worship something, but it ain't God.

You did everything in your power to trash her, and now you expect Evangelicals to walk away from it. I'm sorry, but they are not going to forget.

I believe people can change. President Bush does as well; he knows this from personal experience, and so do I, hence my support of him and Miers. It's not like he was asking someone like Hillary...

...if the intent of the McCain 11 is to prevent a nominee from reaching the floor and not simply to prevent changing the filibuster rule, then they will not support a 24/7 filibuster either.

Then effectively, the presidential appointment power has been usurped by Senator McCain and the rest of his cabal. I had thought that the Constitution invests the President with this power, and it is a plenipotential power. That is, he shares it with no one. The Senate's role is to advise and consent, exercising that role by a simple majoritarian, direct, straight up-or-down vote of the entire Senate. Since when does the power of a Senate committee trump the clear language and meaning of the Constitution?

Amen R4E. Excellent post.

We agree %1000. My posts reflect the same. My post history leaves no question where I stand, and how I came to my conclusions. Core values, and principles over party. All cultists end up the same. Ever notice that? Worshiping false idols is a dangerous business.... you never know what's in the koolaide.

Just a funny note: Listening to local talk radio today..neither conservative or liberal, a caller reacting the the Miers withdrawal actually said..." it'd be good to have a wildcard on the court." We are in seriously dangerous times. The bugle is sounding................

But God is what He is no matter what we believe about Him

You are NOT wrong.

Thou shall have NO other God's before me.

But as evangelicals, they SHOULD forgive and MOVE ON.

It had nothing to do with her being an evangelical. Get the chip off your shoulder. See my sig line - it's over. Deal with it.

And, I am listening, STILL, to Laura Ingraham. And she is STILL trashing Miers. Ripping her speech. Laughing at her writing style. How in hell can any of you people listen to this wench?

I can only speak for myself, but the reason I love Laura's show is that she has a wise-ass cynicism about everyone involved in government, no matter which party or ideology they come from, and she busts on them accordingly. For someone like me who is cynical about politicians and government employees in general, her show is refreshing. Plus, she's pretty friggin hot.

I was called a three-toed tree sloth a few weeks back by a Miers supporter.

LOL, glad to see I left a mark.

Because I said "to the RIGHT" of Roberts.

Hellooooooooooooo 78 VOTES, to the right we can lose 28 votes and still confirm someone, we just need 60 of the 78 votes in favor of Roberts to end a filibuster.

Because there are 11 Rinos on record opposing the nuclear option.

That just isn't so, despite all your crying. There were 50 votes in favor when the Gang of 7 torpedoed it because they didn't really want to, although at least two said they would if they had to.

While I'm in 100% agreement with you on Janice Rogers Brown, it would be a hard sell. This great woman is as conservative as they come. The Leftists are in full attack mode with her already. Ironically, the very points with which they attack JRB are the very ones that endear her to me.

I also believe people can change...in fact, I think most people do change; having said that, however, Miers is 60 years old...you'd think by this time in her life, it would be quite easy to see/know (from a paper trail) in what way she's changed or what her positions are (a red flag in itself)....the information we have gleaned from some of the paper trails she's left (i.e., supporting affirmative action) raises red flags.

Pointing out disqualifiers based upon Miers' own words, actions and writings is not the same as "trashing" her. The same would have been done if she had been an atheist ... it had absolutely nothing to do with her evangelical leanings.

Being an evangelical and a good bowler, while both admirable attributes, are not, in themselves, qualifications for a lifetime appointment to the SCOTUS.

That's me. Principles over party every time.

Not a cultist. Not a worshipper of false idols. Not a kool-aid drinker.

A free thinker who thinks deeply about issues and has core values that can't be shaken.

And yet, I have been called all the names you list.

Funny.........isn't it? How wrong a person can be......

"True .. but it would be nice if our side didn't give them ammo to hit us with"

ANY Public disagreement among conservatives and/or Republicans no matter how polite and civil would be treated as fodder by the Democrats (which includes the MSM). That's the way it is. We shouldn't forgo disagreements for that reason.

Next to the War on Terror, the Supreme Court nominees are the most crucial issue for this administration. It is far more important to get these nominees RIGHT for the posterity of our nation, than to remain silent to withhold fodder from the Democrats NOW.

She did the right thing. Bush's nominating her was, in my increasing opinion, a hostile act. I still don't know what in the world he was thinking.
