A mother is suing the obstetrician who she claims misdiagnosed her pregnancy as ectopic and injected her foetus with an abortant, resulting in birth defects. Thirty-five-year-old Rachel Schoger of Caldwell, Idaho, says she was four weeks five days pregnant with her daughter, Seraphine, when her doctor injected her foetus with chemotherapy drug methotrexate in 2006. Two weeks later, the baby was found inside the uterus. And against all odds, Seraphine made it through term. But the little girl will never lead a normal life, her mother says, after she was born without reproductive organs or a rectum as a result...

Third graders in in Gwinnett County, Ga., were given math homework Wednesday that asked questions about slavery and beatings. Christopher Braxton told ABC News affiliate WSB-TV in Atlanta that he couldn't believe the assignment his 8-year-old son brought home from of Beaver Ridge Elementary school in Norcross. "It kind of blew me away," Braxton said. "Do you see what I see? Do you really see what I see? He's not answering this question." The question read, "Each tree had 56 oranges. If eight slaves pick them equally, then how much would each slave pick?" Another math problem read, "If Frederick...

Iran's navy said Sunday it test-fired an advanced surface-to-air missile during a drill in international waters near the strategic Strait of Hormuz, the passageway for one-sixth of the world's oil supply. Iran's state TV said the missile, named Mehrab, or Altar, is designed to evade radar and was developed by Iranian scientists. The report said the missile was tested Sunday but provided no further details. A leading Iranian lawmaker said the sea maneuvers serve as practice for closing the Strait of Hormuz if the West blocks Iran's oil sales. After top Iranian officials made the same threat a week ago,...

Did you take or see this quiz? I did and my winners were Bachmann, Paul, and Santorum [in that order]. I would say that Newt was on my radar screen, as was Bachmann and Paul. Santorum never even entered my mind. I would have thought I preferred Paul over Bachmann [test says, NO!]. Every person on my desk took it and none of them came up with Romney http://www.usatoday.com/news/politics/candidate-match-game

This was very interesting... This is a terrific test. And it shows results in a number of ways. It clearly indicates that the majority of Americans don't have a clue about what's going on in the world. No wonder our politicians take such advantage of us. It's astonishing that so many people got less than half right. These results say that 80% of the (voting) public doesn't have a clue, and that's pretty scary. There are no tricks here - just a simple test to see if you are current on your information. This is quite good and the results...

Occupants experience "up to 400 g" As you are likely aware, our own NHTSA test-crashes all new cars for sale in the US at speeds up to40 mph- as do EU authorities and a few others. One day the folks at English television showFifth Gear(notto be confused with Jeremy Clarkson's unparelledTop Gear) wondered over tea what would happen if they had some crash-test pros set up the cement barrier and run a Ford Focus into it at120 mph... triple normal testing speeds. So they did it... and this is what happens: Cardeceleratesfrom 120-0 in .068 seconds Occupants experience up...

Georgia attorney general releases 800-plus page report detailing cheating scandal at Atlanta public schools. Teachers, school administrators and principals were directly involved with various efforts including outright cheating and changing student answers to increase the Atlanta school systems student performance scores. Some even held erasure parties on weekends to change answers. The report stated that children were denied special-educational assistance because their falsely reported CRCT scores were too high, and during testing, teachers pointed to the correct answer while standing at students desks. According to the report, Parks Middle School had the most educators accused of cheating under...

chicagotribune.com Illinois erases state's last writing exam 11th-graders will no longer take the test saving state $2.4 million By Tara Malone, Tribune reporter July 6, 2011 Illinois high school juniors no longer will be tested on writing skills during the state's standardized tests every spring, eliminating the last Illinois writing exam and shaving about $2.4 million amid budgetary shortfalls. While students might welcome being spared the sweating over topic sentences and persuasive verbs, many educators worry the essential skill could get short shrift in Illinois classrooms as a result.

SNIP What is the first of the four ingredients Kimball gives for a successful marriage? Proper approach toward marriage; choosing a spouse who is near perfection and then marrying in the temple. What is the First Presidency's stand on tattoos and piercing? They discourage tattoos and piercing for non-medical reasons. They don't take a stand on women piercing their ears for only one pair of earrings. What is taught in D&C 131? You cannot enter into the celestial kingdom without the covenant of marriage. A Russian man died after burying himself alive in a friend's garden in the eastern city of Blagoveshchensk in an endurance test that went wrong. "According to his friend, the man, 35, wanted to test his endurance and insistently asked his friend to help him spend the night buried," said Alexei Lubinsky, a senior aide to the region's chief investigator. The two men dug a hole in the garden and put inside an improvised coffin with holes for air pipes. The man also took a blanket, a bottle of water and a cell phone. The victim's friend told investigators he...

I want to create a "media misinformation quiz" to give to my liberal friends. My goal is to show folks HOW MUCH that they believe is wrong and how much propaganda, lies and misinformation the media has shoved down their throats. I am looking for questions like: Who said: "I can see Russia from my house!" ? Everyone here knows it was Tina Fey...however many, many folks actually think Sarah Palin said it. Other questions I have thought of are: Who had better grades in College - Bush or Obama ?? Which party ended slavery in the USA? I'm sure...

This test is not an easy one. It is a test of your civics knowledge. It is one of the better ones that I have seen. The website reports that college professors average about 55%. I find that odd. See the chart following the quiz that shows how our elected officials did. Click here for testI will fess up to a 93.94% score missing 2 out of the 33. This test is by the same group that did one in '08, '09 and '10. Enjoy.

Winter wont just go quietly and chilly weather returned. We had a solid group of ten with several visitors. One wounded warrior came up to Trooprally and thanked him and the DC Chapter for being here. He is leaving next week to go back to Germany and then on to his unit in Afghanistan. Traffic was lighter this week, but the normal honks and waves were robust. Towards the end of the evening, a car full of moonbats came by yelling anti- war vulgarities and giving us the finger. This goes some ways towards explaining how a shady post-turtle like Barack Obama found his way into the Oval Office- and how the public can continue to be so easily manipulated by the thoroughly-discredited MSM hacks that...

Inquiring minds are laughing at the bureaucratsmostly made up of those highly intellectual Leftist/Progressive/Socialist types. The Intercollegiate Studies Institute has been conducting a national survey for the last 5 years. Remember how The Left derided the thought of reciting the US Consitution before 112th Congress began work? When the Republican House leadership decided to start the 112th Congress with a reading of the U.S. Constitution, the decision raised complaints in some quarters that it was little more than a political stunt. The New York Times even called it a presumptuous and self-righteous act. That might be true, if you could...

VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- An interceptor missile launched from California on Wednesday failed to hit a target fired from a Pacific atoll 4,000 miles away during a test of an anti-ballistic missile defense system, the Air Force announced. The missile, called a ground-based interceptor, lifted off from coastal Vandenberg Air Force Base at 12:03 a.m. and released a device called an Exoatmospheric Kill Vehicle, or EKV, that was to plow into a target missile fired from the Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands. The interceptor's sensors worked and the EKV was deployed, but it missed, according to a...

(CNSNews.com) - American journalism is in "grave peril," FCC Commissioner Michael Copps says, and to bolster "traditional media," he said the Federal Communications Commission should conduct a "public value test" of every commercial broadcast station at relicensing time. In a speech at the Columbia University School of Journalism in New York on Thursday, Copps also said station relicensing should happen every four years instead of the current eight. "If a station passes the Public Value Test, it of course keeps the license it has earned to use the peoples airwaves," Copps said. "If not, it goes on probation for a...

(Reuters) - If President Barack Obama is not yet convinced that his international star power has faded, his next round of transatlantic summitry should clear up any lingering doubts. Coming off a marathon Asia trip where Obama often found himself rebuffed by fellow world leaders, he will head to Europe this week where the agenda will be clouded by a growing divide over economic strategy and a sense of neglect among traditional U.S. allies. His challenge is to reassure European partners that, despite political weakness at home and embarrassing setbacks abroad, he remains committed to better cooperation on issues ranging from...

In 1841 Joseph Smith declared that the Book of Mormon was "the keystone of our religion, and a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts than by any other book" (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pg. 194). Welcome to America where there's an incessant whine about testing... Okay, this piece is not deep, but some may find it amusing. One of those easy-tests that kids should know all the answers to. But we fear that many won't. Because lots of public schools would rather be struck by a tornado than teach a fact.

Fifty years ago, in the midst of his presidential campaign against Richard Nixon, Sen. John F. Kennedy gave a speech to ease voters' concerns about his Catholic faith. Speaking in Houston, Kennedy emphasized that Article VI of the Constitution maintains that no "religious test" may keep a candidate from aspiring to political office. He went further, implying that his Catholicism should be off limits to public scrutiny. To treat a politician's religious beliefs as politically relevant was an affront to America's noblest civic traditions, he declared.

IMO this test should be brought back and not only for 8th graders, but should be mandatory for anyone to pass prior to being registered to vote! Nevertheless, this definitely answers the question why so many of our children are clueless, and so many of us seasoned citizens actually do have a functioning knowledge of how our govt is supposed to work.

- This fall, a Republican is almost guaranteed to win in Utah's Senate race. But will the pick of self-styled true conservatives win the Republican primary on June 22? Groups like the Senate Conservatives Fund and FreedomWorks have endorsed attorney Mike Lee in the race. He's up against businessman Tim Bridgewater and the two agree on many issues. But such groups like Lee's knowledge of the Constitution and worry about Bridgewater's commitment to limited government, saying he supported subsidizing drug costs for Medicare. Lee has an uphill climb in the primary and may be the latest candidate to underscore the...

India's missile shield test fails: officials Mon Mar 15, 7:37 am ET BHUBANESWAR, India (AFP) India's homegrown interceptor defence shield developed to detect and destroy incoming ballistic missiles failed during a test on Monday, military officials said. The test was abandoned when the radars following the target, a nuclear-capable missile, lost track of it after it blasted off from a site 200 kilometres (120 miles) from Bhubaneswar in eastern India. "The 'hostile' missile went off the radars after it took off and deviated from its trajectory and so the interceptor was not launched," an official from Defence Research and...

Israel's new rocket defense system has proven a hit-to-kill capability. Officials said Israel's Iron Dome has achieved the ability to strike incoming short-range missiles and rockets. They said the Iron Dome demonstrated this during its first live fire test in mid-2009. "They met head on," Defense Minister Ehud Barak said. In a Nov. 17 address to the International Aerospace Conference and Exhibition-Israel, Barak said Iron Dome exceeded all expectations. He said the assessment within the Defense Ministry and military had been that the interceptor would explode 10 meters from the incoming missile.

WASHINGTON Democrats lost a big test vote on health care legislation on Wednesday as the Senate blocked action on a bill to increase Medicare payments to doctors at a cost of $247 billion over 10 years. A dozen Democrats and one independent crossed party lines and voted with Republicans on the 53 to 47 roll call.
