It seemed a sensible thing to do, to try and find a woman who could replace a woman.
Unfortunately, finding a woman who does not think like a woman is a very hard project.
I really think that Bush thought he was doing the right thing in Miers. That he was picking a woman who would work hard to team up with Scalia, as most of her views, the ones I have read, seem to echo his, but in different phrasing, a woman's phrasing, I thought.......
I don't mean to be sexist or in any way misogynistic, but we don't know what Bush thought of the others and who had withdrawn from consideration prior to the pick. We just don't.
I think it was the desire to pick a woman that caused the Miers choice. I think that was the mistake. Not the pick.
