"People have the impression that teens and unmarried mothers are synonymous," said Stephanie Ventura of the National Center for Health Statistics.
But last year teens accounted for just 24 percent of unwed births, down from 50 percent in 1970, she commented.
The increases in unmarried births have been among women in their 20s, she said, particularly those 25 to 29.

I think is precisely the reason the occurence of RAD is rising exponentially. I work with the children of these loveless, groundless relationships all the time. They're empty. They have no roots, no foundation, no sense of identity. They, by and large, have parents with the morals of an alley cat and most often they have little or no releationship with a father. Siblings most often have different sperm donors fathers. It is a desperate situation, and society seems to have very little will to address this cancerous social disease.
I see it more as there being so much free milk, they have no need of their own cow.
Oh, I don't know about that. Car and yard work count for something...and the occasional foot massage is rather nice, too.

Marriage is a design of God, not government. The state may make it legal, but it is God who makes it sacred, and it is in commitment to God that partners find the strength of will and the ability to love, honor and cherish until parted by death.
Of course not...because we don't want to be judgemental.
Who will soon be running for office.
Because technically, that is what they are.
Somebody needs to tell the "lifestyle" moms that single men have no real interest in women with children.
If they have a child intentionally then they are making a statement about their lack of inteterest in men.
The problem is epidemic in this country. The examples you cite are merely demographic variations. Where I live, it is almost exclusively poor, white women from teens to 30s, whose children are fathered by different men, many of whom are either career criminals, registered sex offenders or married to other women; but that is what the demographic dictates.
This area is almost exclusively white and there is a significant gap in the status of the representative populations. There are a lot of transplants and retirees, most of which are either well-established financially when they come here or who come here to take a professional position for which they are trained and qualified. Then you have the family businesses that have been around since anyone can remember and that look after their own. The opportunities for the uneducated are very limited. There are relatively few unskilled jobs available and the majority of those are filled by either college students or individuals with at least a high school education.
The clients I typically deal with avarage a 9th grade education. They don't have cars and it is a rural area, so even if they find jobs, it is usually just a matter of time till they lose them when they fail to show up because they couldn't get transportation or a babysitter. I'm guessing that for many of them, feelings of hopelessness have set in to the point that the only thing that makes them feel alive at all is having sex and/or doing drugs, and most of the men available to them are swimming in the shallow end of the gene pool themselves.
There is no simple, realistic way for them to escape their circumstances. Many of these young parents are at least second or third generation in this lifestyle. To them, it looks normal. They've never been encouraged to seek a better way. The attitude of their parents (typically the mothers) is often "if it was good enough for me; it is good enough for her." It is extremely difficult to cut through that mindset, regardless of whether they're black, white or hispanic. Ultimately, the loss of connectedness to our Judeo-Christian heritage and the accompanying moral climate prevalent in our country until the past few decades is at the root of the condition, and unless and until the disease is remedied at the root the quality of the fruit produced by these corrupt relationships will continue to deteriorate .
While I adore Shakespeare, I think a simpler and more profound example can be found in the story of Abraham, when he got ahead of God's plan and took Sarah's servant, Hagar, and produced a child with her....with Sarah's blessing. Because of His promise to Abraham, God did make a great nation of Ishmael, but Isaac was the promised son and the one through whom salvation would come to man. The world is still suffering the impact of that one "bastard" child, and the "greatness" of his descendants has continued to increase and now threatens to destroy us.
Thank you for reminding us of the obvious. It's along the same line as a basic concept I worked to instill in my daughter, and that is that every privilege comes with responsibility.
Parents are both expected to support the children they beget, at least legally. But you can't require things like commitment, honor and love, and ultimately, these are the qualities that are missing in the relationships that produce the majority of illegitimate children.

Knowing this guy, and the fact that the women were intimate with him, their ability to become wise is severely questionable.
