>Presidential spokesman Ruben Aguilar today said the McCain-Kennedy proposal, which would allow current illegal immigrants to work in the U.S. for up to six years, is the one that comes closest to what Mexico wants.<

Senor Estupido, how about what the illegally-migrated country wants?

"MEXICO CITY An aide to President Vicente Fox says the Mexican government favors immigration legislation proposed by U-S Senators Edward Kennedy and John McCain."

"The plan would allow current illegal immigrants to work in the U-S for up to six years"

Ok.... but only if they take kerry, kennedy, mccain, reid and a few others in exchange!

Oh! And they have to take some of our less then honest members of the mainstream media too!

"President Bush has urged Congress to act on a guest worker program and has proposed a plan that would allow undocumented workers to get three-year work visas. ~ Those visas could then be extended for three more years. Immigrants would then have to return to their home countries for one year to seek a new work permit."

Ahem, cough cough. Sure thing.

Then President Bush sat down and dreamed that 15 million illegal aliens all dutifully left the country at once to go home for a year, and they returned a year later to procure a new work permit, just as he stated. And he saw the government enforcing this law. And then he fell asleep and dreamed he was in a Hollywood movie, and that he was the star of the movie, This really blew his mind, the fact that he, an overfed, long-haired leaping gnome should be the star of a Hollywood movie.

How is passing another law like this going to help? Why would people who want to come here illegally register under this plan as a guest worker? Why not just keep doing what you are doing? This has never made sense to me. A guest worker plan would only work AFTER the border has been secured. Alone it provides no incentive to go through legal channels.

Yes. And it's interesting that, though I'm not Hispanic, I speak Spanish. Took it in school for some years, a long time ago! German too, and I actually use that MUCH more in the "business world" than Spanish...except perhaps when I'm trying to order a Big Mac; but I digress. And here's the ironic part:

Yo, como un Americano, solamente en studias en la escuela, puedo hablar Espanol bastante mas bien que los Mexicanos en Los Estados Unidos pueden hablar Ingles!

Yup. I'm pretty disgusted already.

Can I get some nice beachfront property in Cancun? If so, I'm with you.

You might wish to reconsider. After Wilma, there may be no beach left in Cancun.

Pretty darn good for just learning it in school. Very good.

I had 4 years of junior high and high school Spanish, and I think I could count to 10 and ask where the bathroom was.

It wasn't till I lived in Argentina for two years that I learned how to speak a bit.

The Mexicans I meet are amazed when I say I was pretty fluent after about 6 months in the country. I say, "Well, you have to WANT to learn it, and you have to TRY. If you TRIED, you'd learn English that quickly, too." I'm no genius, that's for sure. It's all about desire, attitude and work ethic.

That just means that there are no more gaudy turista hotels to block my view.

I can always get more sand.

Have we officially made Mexico and Canada American states yet? America needs to spend the 3.2B necessary to build the fence on the southern border, THEN talk about ANYTHING next.

ofcourse they favor it.

Oil is #1, but the second biggest portion of Mexico's economy is all the money illegals from the US send back to mexico.

the content of your post was actually the content of a paper i wrote while in school. imo, the usa really messed up one hundred and fifty years ago by not taking mexico and making it part of the usa. our army was at mexico citys doorstep, we had defeated them. like a monster who gestates for a long period, we know see the result of our sad lack of foresight. adios

The plan would allow current illegal immigrants to work in the U-S for up to six years.

The current illegal immigrants' "six years in the U.S." was up years ago. It's time for them to go home.

I dunno if he is a corporate whore, but he sure is a political whore.

Oh, crap - does Vicente Fox get to vote on our legislation now? I'm surprised McCain and Kennedy haven't made him an honorary U.S. misrepresentative so he can do so.

oh ten more states.

You think we will be better off with 20 more Democrats in the Senate and about 150 more Democrats in the House of Representatives and 170 more Democratic votes in the Presidential Electorial College?

In case you have not noticed, poor people vote overwhelmingly Democrat and the trend South of our border in Venezuela, Brazil, Argentina, etc is towards revolutionary socialism.
