November 1, 2005: France is burning. For most of the last week, there have been nasty riots in the Parisian suburb of St Denis, complete with fires and many casualties. This area is home to about 500,000 Moslems. Many largely Moslem suburbs of Paris, and other large cities, have become no-go zones for the police, and anyone who is not of Middle Eastern origin. Over the last three decades, generous social benefits and immigration policies have left France with a Moslem population of some five million (about eight percent of the population.) High rise housing for them was built on the outskirts of major cities. Most of these Moslems did not try to assimilate, and by maintaining their old country culture and language, they made it more difficult for their kids to get jobs. Among the old school customs practiced is attacking, and even murdering, girls who do not conform to a Moslem style of behavior. While jobs may be lacking, crime and social welfare payments are not. So people can live without jobs, and make a little extra with some crime on the side. But when you have a lot of people participating in, or just condoning, criminal behavior, you have a very dangerous place for outsiders. Officially, the government condemns this sort of profiling, but a look at crime statistics shows that high rates of robbery, murder and rape tend to coincide with Moslem areas. There are unofficial maps on the Internet, where French citizens can check about where not to get lost the next time they go for a drive.
Meanwhile, the high crime rates in the Moslem neighborhoods has been spilling over into non-Moslem areas, and there has been a major outbreak of anti-Semitic attacks on Jews, and Jewish targets (synagogues, cemeteries, Etc.).

Good article, Wiz. :)
Rioting insurrectionists / Truck Mounted
Heavy Caliber Machine Guns = Problem solved.
The French will crack down hard...and soon, and then you'll have the Islamofascist AlQeda blow up Notre Dame, or the Eiffel Tower..
The French were fools to let all these north African Muslims emigrate to their country, now they're paying the price.
Somehow I doubt that the French will crack down hard and soon. It's just too politically incorrect.
Another vote for a violent response from the French. They are, after all, the ones who blew up the Rainbow Warrior (the only French foreign policy success of the last 100 years).
Someone got the bright idea (probably someone at the UN) that letting in hordes of Third World immigrants would help the West get thought its upcoming retirement crisis. The hope was that somehow these people would come in and, within a generation, power the economic growth necessary to finance the retiring Baby Boomers. Didn't quite work out that way did it? If anything, these people are simultaneously a drain on the treasury and a ticking time bomb. Their failure to assimilate means that future generations will have to solve this problem though either civil war or letting the Other take power (effectively, becoming a subservient minority in their own country). Given the way the Left has defanged and demoralized the West, I think the latter is the more realistic outcome. Yet another liberal plan for Utopia gone awry--who would have thunk it?

The Barbarians at the Gates of Paris
Theodore Dalrymple
Everyone knows la douce France: the France of wonderful food and wine, beautiful landscapes, splendid châteaux and cathedrals. More tourists (60 million a year) visit France than any country in the world by far. Indeed, the Germans have a saying, not altogether reassuring for the French: to live as God in France. Half a million Britons have bought second homes there; many of them bore their friends back home with how they order these things better in France.
But there is another growing, and much less reassuring, side to France. I go to Paris about four times a year and thus have a sense of the evolving preoccupations of the French middle classes. A few years ago it was schools: the much vaunted French educational system was falling apart; illiteracy was rising; children were leaving school as ignorant as they entered, and much worse-behaved. For the last couple of years, though, it has been crime: linsécurité, les violences urbaines, les incivilités. Everyone has a tale to tell, and no dinner party is complete without a horrifying story. Every crime, one senses, means a vote for Le Pen or whoever replaces him.
I first saw linsécurité for myself about eight months ago. It was just off the Boulevard Saint-Germain, in a neighborhood where a tolerably spacious apartment would cost $1 million. Three youthsRumanianswere attempting quite openly to break into a parking meter with large screwdrivers to steal the coins. It was four oclock in the afternoon; the sidewalks were crowded, and the nearby cafés were full. The youths behaved as if they were simply pursuing a normal and legitimate activity, with nothing to fear.

What's a Moslem??????? a frog Muslim
Muslims in this country arent assimilating either. We dont have as many as Paris ---yet. We also need to restrict entry to this country.
You mean cheap labor? The French, they're idiots.
Why is this not major news?
Are Rush and Sean talking about it?
Also: it takes a particular hormone.
Just a taste of things to come. The barbarians are once again knocking on the doors and they may be headed for another 1000 years of dark ages.
Look for the same thing coming to a major Canadian city way too close to you.
The religion of peace and love and goodwill to all...
Is that some new form of surrender?
And to think a good many of those "tolerant" rabbis advocated for Islam to become the official second religion of France, so much for "tolerance" then.
