Reid calls for no-pardon pledge (barf alert)
Ohio News Network ^ | November 8, 2005 | staff

Posted on 11/08/2005 2:28:31 PM PST by balch3

CAPITOL HILL Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid wants President Bush to promise he won't pardon former White House aide Lewis Libby.

Reid calls leaking national security secrets "a serious crime" that "should not be condoned."

He wants the president to "make a commitment to the American people" that he won't pardon Libby or anyone else involved in the C-I-A leak scandal.

He and other Democrats also want to know if the possibility of a pardon has been discussed with Libby.

Libby is the former chief of staff to Vice President Cheney. Libby was charged last week with lying to investigators and a grand jury.

Nah, that's acknowledging that there has been an offense to talk about pardoning for.

The president should not even deign to comment on the proposal, proving once again that Reid's blather isn't worth listening to. Then, when the MSM inevitably asks about it in a press conference, the answer should run along the lines of "Are you proposing that we abandon our system of jurisprudence? No one has been convicted of anything yet, therefore there is nothing to pardon. What ever happened to innocent until proven guilty?"

Either that, or he should say "Will Reid pledge to stop beating his wife?"

Those idiots are willing to try anything so what's the surprise. The way I see it is if Bush falls for this and caves (like most Republicans do) then it is his own responsibility. Time for the GOP to get off their asses and get tough. If Bush goes for this one I'm sure they will then ask him to step down as President too.

Only after we prosecute to the fullest extent of the law those who have leaked our national secrets regarding bases abroad and battle plans during a time of war""

Clinton for selling technology to the Chinese for campaign contributions.....and for "loathing the military" thruout his whole life.

Kerry for aiding the enemy in the Viet Nam war.....

Jane Fonda for all the transgressions we all know about.....

Joe Wilson for outing his own wife, and trying to push the blame on anyone else he can.....

More ideas anyone???

This entire flap would not have happened if the President had assembled all his people at the beginning of his administration and told them that anyone who talked to the press, with the exception of the press secretary, would be fired immediately. And that should have been repeated monthly, to tighten any loose lips. Why in the world would any Republican administration give the time of day to the wolves in the press who are out to destroy every Republican president since their successful coup ended the Nixon administration? Inconceivable.

Once again, he's letting them crawl out further on the limb before he saws it off.

I don't even think he's going to have to bring a saw...the limb is going to break under the weight of the number of Democrats perched at its outer edge. Perhaps, for kicks, the President should say that he will continue in the tradition of Clinton and grant pardons in accordance with financial pledges to his library.

of ignorant, stupid, SOB's. Libby probably has
more integrity in is little finger than most of
the Senate nitwits....
would you rather have lunch with Libby? Or - Harry
Reid, Ted Kennedy, Schmuck Schumer, Barbara A. Box(er),
Dick(ie) Durban, or many more that are completely lost
in this world? They must all associate with the
real nuts..like Donoher - yikes....Jake

So, should we assume Reid is guilty of funneling public works projects to his son in laws? I know he's not been found guilty, but what the hell. Let's ask Bush to promise not to pardon Reid, Pelosi, Schumer or Kennedy.

Only if Reid, Kennedy and Hillary resign will we consider it.

(And then only if we had our fingers crossed behind our backs when we said it)

Is he talking about the democrat national security committee members who leaked the information about our international detention centers to the press?

I think the Democrats see the train barreling down and they can't make it to the end of the tunnel in time.

What was the name of the 140 terrorists that Stainman pardoned the day before he "left office?"

It's ok to SELL national security secrets to the Chinese though?

I'm fed up with these loons. Why don't they get a job in the private sector where they can do less harm.

What about Clinton and Marc Rich? Maybe that "pardon-for-dollars" should be revoked. The dems are disgusting. Pres. Bush should say it's too soon to even think about pardons since Libby hasn't been convicted of anything!

Reid can go straight to hell.

Funny, the left didn't mind when Clinton pardoned 16 FALN terrorists in order to garner the Hispanic vote for Hillary in New York City.
