Freedom to liberals: the sacred right to wreck one's life at hedonist meth parties. To condemn this is prudish, and to prevent it is fascism.

While punks (affectionately called Bohemians by some) who follow this behavior do self-assuredly think themselves uniquely enlightened, as well as entitled to such decadence by virtue of plain delinquent attitudes ("Because I can"), Kevin McCormick's death represents much more: it is the fulfillment of centuries-old libertine ideals outlined by the likes of Nietzsche, that through "eternal recurrence" ("the idea that one is, or might be, fated to relive forever every moment of one's life, with no omission whatsoever of any pleasurable or painful detail."), the ultimate goal of life is to live for one brief moment of climax or ecstasy, and then - knowing that such achievement can never be repeated - to kill oneself.

This is the way of the junkie -- and of academic elitists, alike.

Hamsters?

Must have been gay. They do odd things with them ... ana; sex ... .

"Meth cooks buy nonprescription cold pills such as Sudafed, which contains pseudophedrine, a chemical derivative of amphetamine. The ingredient is combined with chemicals such as iodine and anhydrous ammonia, then cooked at a high temperature. When ingested, the drug produces a euphoric high. "

Geesh!

Why not give all the details? Nothing like spreading the word ... . Yeah, their really impressive, NOT.

Were they able to get the Hamster out?

That's not exactly what people who go into Paramedics work, Nursing,
and Fire and Rescue usually think about at Career Day...

I take it MIT has offered a full refund on paid tuition...

"the drug is growing in popularity among some gay men who search the Internet looking for sex parties where the drug is offered, state officials and counselors said."

Would it be homophobic of me to suggest that these men be called something other than gay --- I don't think it is gay to live and die this wretchedly.

McCormick, an engineering student turned high-tech artist .... the MIT grad ...
McCormick, 29

Was he a student or an alumnus of MIT? If the former, then the next steps should be very easy -- MIT can simply ban methamphetamines and excessive extramarital sex to prevent all future student deaths.

Seven to nine years ago, an MIT freshman died from alcohol poisoning. MIT paid the student's family and promptly instituted rules to prohibit alcohol consumption by students under age 21 and to require school permits (and training and limits to the numbers of bottles) to serve it. Other schools across the coutry adopted similar rules. Notwithstanding the laws and school regulations, underage students have still died of alcohol poisoning at various schools every school year.

"Police have not identified McCormick as the dead man, but Bachrach said it was him."

"...said it was he." Where is the Herald's style book?

Main Entry: he·do·nism Pronunciation: 'hE-d&n-"i-z&m Function: noun Etymology: Greek hEdonE pleasure; akin to Greek hEdys sweet -- more at SWEET 1 : the doctrine that pleasure or happiness is the sole or chief good in life 2 : a way of life based on or suggesting the principles of hedonism

Ive always considered myself a hedonist when it comes to dining on shrimp and lobster....with butter........mmmmm lots of butter.....yeah uhhh melted butter.....unnnnngggghhh

“group bondage parties”, Burning Man, rodents.

Perhaps there was some sort of Rube Goldberg device that involved rodents, drugs and group bondage.

MIT graduate Kevin McCormick was found dead

Not very smart, was he?

Moral education is more important than the education of the intellect.

We just had a meth lab discovered two blocks away from me in our sleepy little Ohio town. Plus, the same guy had a mobile meth lab in his car.

Regarding the hamsters innuendo. Does anyone else make the connection between this and the story also out of Massachusetts today that says the Dems are trying to 'soften' the bestiality laws?

I guess this says something about party poopers but I'm damned if I know what.

...“friendly, supportive, nurturing, artist.”

Geez...first it was 'queer', then it was 'fag', then it was 'gay'; now we have to call the sodomites 'artist'? I'm really having trouble keeping up...
