SPEAKER HASTERT NEW BLOG POST

House Happenings for This Week posted by Denny Hastert @ 11:33am (11/18/05) | Section: Hastert’s Comments

I hope everyone is well. It’s been a busy week and a long night. We stayed up and passed a bill that’s going to go a long way towards restraining spending and reducing the deficit. I’m proud that we got it done.

I had all these great prepared remarks for the debate but then I heard the Democratic Leader get up there and completely misrepresent the situation. Let me tell you, it was frustrating. I mean, the reason the economy is standing on its feet now is because of Republican policies. We were in a recession under President Clinton – the bubble was bursting. And then 9-11 came and just hit our economy hard. Republicans instituted pro-growth policies. Republicans did it. And look at the economy now – we are reducing the deficit. Homeownership is up. People have jobs.

There is SO much more!! Click the link and keep reading!

This is another great post from our Speaker of the "People's House"

I don't know if anyone stayed up late enough to watch the final closing statement he gave on the house floor last night, but it made you proud he was on our side. Going right after Negative Nancy Pelosi, he looked like our conservative butt-kickin' coach! Keep Rockin' on Mr. Speaker!

I hope he is paying you a lot. He is as reliable as the French army in his support of conservatism.

A big government Republican speaks out. I'm not impressed.

Seriously, Hastert in the last few days has been a wonderful example of what the Speaker of the House should be doing. I watched the speech and was amazed. We need more of these from Hastert. He removed the gloves and this coming from someone (me) who was not his greatest fan.

Last night he was that wrestling coach, take no prisoners Speaker of the House and what I thought he would be all along!

After Hasterts reaction to Mike Pense and his threats to former Senator Fitzgerald...plus his comments about Senator Coburn during the elections, I have lost all respect for the man.

He is a republican, but he is NOT conservative, his actions, while claiming to be pragmatic, were far from it and disgusting.

There is no excuse for smiling when you "think" (and he made it clear, hoped) the most conservative republican since Jesse Helms is running for a seat, he will lose.

For what its worth, Coburn won, which Hastert has also made clear, he didn't like.

Thanks for the link to Hastert's blog. Very interesting. And for those who complain about his spending, I'm certainly not a fan of big government, but we can fix that problem. I appreciate Hastert's support of the War on Terror and his butt-kicking of the weasly dems who'd have us cut and run, leaving Iraq in shambles and our military in shame.

TO you ALL:

1. No, I'm a big fan of my speaker, and would be willing to take a job if he would offer. Currently unemployed (explains the ability to stay up and watch late night C-SPAN, man that sounds bad)

2. I spoke to his office and they put me on his distribution list, so when he puts anything out, I find out. And his office notes all his postings.

3. I like politics and blogging, and have time for both, too much time! So, I surf the web and put up stuff like this.

4. If anyone knows of a job opening for me, feel free to let me know.
