"Our republic is in jeopardy my friends."

This generation is finally seeing the results of the Communist and Socialist infiltration of our educational system, media, and government. The seeds were planted in the 50's and 60's and early 70's. We are now seeing the results. When a college professor can say real freedom is when soldiers shoot their superiors and still maintain a job, we are truly in jeopardy.

I live in Cincy and the lady hasn't seen a tax increase that she doesn't love...

Shoot, I live in her hometown and I didn't vote for her because of that.

Hey, Jean Schmidt is brand new to Congress and I think you have a lot of conservatives who think she did a pretty good job last night!

I keep hearing that Col. Murtha is a 37 year veteran of the Marine Corps. Wasn't he only on active duty a brief part of that time and a reserve officer the rest??

Per his biography, he served in active duty 1952-1955, and 1966-1967 and was Marine Corps Reserves, 1955-1966, and 1967-1990

So his active duty service was somewhere around 4 to 6 years. In his first tour of active duty he rose to NCO (see other bio page), then volunteered to go to Vietnam for a year just before going into politics

This lady has moe b@33$ than all the slimy, cowardly RINOs in Congress put together.

What she said was TOTALLY appropriate.

Murtha is a disgrace to his office, to the marines and to his record of service to the COuntry.

He belongs in the same cesspool as Benedict Arnold.

"Cowards cut and run. Marines never run."

I work with the USMC and this is the Corps views on Murtha now. They think of him as being like a respected parrish priest who has been exposed as a child molester. It is like he is being excommunicated from their ranks for heresy. His name is mud with them like Kerry's is.

Pretty much... there ain't no polish(or MSM spin) made that can put a shine on his comments. I'd put Kerry right in that stink-tank with him too.

"Murtha is supposedly a war hero"

I read somewhere here on FR that Murtha got 2 Purple Hearts - for 2 scratches on his face. I can't source it - can someone help me?

If this is true - it is reminding me of another supposed Rat war hero named Kerry!!

Yes, you are right. Republicans back down. They always back down. They have been backing down ever since the cave-in on the "shut down the government" cave-in years ago. This explains why Bush's poll numbers are so low, not because of the war, but because conservatives are fed up with liberal agenda out of the GOP and because, like you said, they are wussies.

Forcing this Congresswoman to withdraw her remarks is like saying the GOP lacks spine and being forced to withdraw that. Quoting or stating the truth should never have to be withdrawn, especially when it comes from a Marine.

This is what I was reading about Murtha being a war hero!!

To: pittsburgh gop guy Interesting. I went looking about Murtha and ABSCAM, since his name didn't ring a bell, and came across this little tidbit on what looks to be FOIA FBI files. Seems somebody didn't think much of Murtha in 1980. And the wording sounds very familiar for another Dimwitocrat today: ====== I was very pleased to read about your "sting" investigation and to learn that you have finally uncovered Congressman John P. Murtha for what he has been doing to the people of thie Congressional District. He has been parading up and down this 6-county area wwith a twice-wounded Vietnam war hero background, and even has teh audacity to list this in the Congressional Directory. In your investigation, you will discover a phony: Murtha's own Marine Corps official record indicates that he incurred two lacerations during his Vietnam service -- March 22, 1967 -- on the cheek May 7, 1967 ----- above the left eye ON BOTH OCCASIONS, HIS RECORD INDICATES THAT OFFICER WAS TREATED IN FIELD AND RETURNED TO DUTY. NEXT OF KIN WAS NOT NOTIFIED. For the above, he allegedly received two purple hearts and commendations galore. In my judgement, the above merit no such acclaim, nor od the people of this District deserve to be deceived in the manner. You should investigate for yourself. ====== I don't write 'em folks, just copy 'em. http://foia.fbi.gov/abscam/abscam1b.pdf 52 posted on 11/18/2005 9:10:59 PM PST by VeniVidiVici (What? Me worry?)

Marines are the best and they must detest cowards like Murtha. He may have served honorably in the past, but he's been coopted by the left and has dishonored his service.

Yeah, pretty surprising how similar this claim of Murtha's service is to Kerry's, isn't it?

And it was written by somebody 25 years ago!

Since the FBI found Murtha involved in ABSCAM, I wonder why they never indicted him?

A thought she did a great service for the Republicans. Why does one have to apologize for telling the truth. (And the words were quoted from a soldier!!)

White a bunch of nonsense...........she did well!

What better quote could anyone ask for from a warrior? The Senate should have erupted in cheers, not boos.

Jean Schmidt was most likely picked by the leadership, probably to name Murtha directly even though it would be striken, to drive the point home.

The fall back is her "rookiness". That is why a senior, long serving member did not get up with a like charge.

Clearly playing to the republican base on this one, and that is a good thing! IMO, of course.
