Like Roger Clemens choosing to float one over the plate at 70 MPH, do MSMers intentionally throw in the occasional change-up just to keep us critics off balance?
The show was Today, the host Matt Lauer, the guest Joe Scarborough, the topic Iraq, and the on-screen graphic at its biased worst: "VP on the Attack; Can Cheney Save the President?"
But suddenly, Matt tossed in two knuckle balls, and from right field at that.
Asked Lauer: "The assertion by some US senators that there was a misrepresentation of the facts going into the war in Iraq - how long is that charge going to work?"
Scarborough didn't exactly hit it out of the park, offering an agnostic response to the effect that the administration's muscular new response to the Dems' attack campaign might have come "too late."
Seemingly dissatisfied with Joe's answer, Lauer made clear what, amazingly, appeared to be his own view of the matter:
"What are the voters going to say? Aren't they going to demand of the Democrats some kind of alternative on Iraq, some kind of plan that will fix the problem, as opposed to just beating up on George Bush?"
Shocked, I went back, ran the tape a few times, and can conclusively confirm that Brit Hume had not somehow snuck into Lauer's chair. Oh, to be a fly on the wall to catch Katie mauling Matt during the break!
Today Show/NewsBusters flying pigs alert.
Remember, their ratings are in the tank. They have to appear to be balanced. Expect more, but not too much.
Stopped clock and all that...
Anyone notice that dnC-Span seemed to be letting more Bush supporters on this morning?
Pedro was still cutting some of them off, but it was refreshing to not hear 7 Democrats in a row, calling on all the lines.
The emperor not only has no clothes, he's trying to convince us everyone else is naked............
Did Matt end the segment by saying 'Now to Al Roker and his report on ice building up in Hell'?
...stating the obvious and it makes news...Lauer will be called upon the carpet today to explain his swing to the far right to katty courec. He'll apologize for being openly anti liberal and swear off fish for the rest of his life
Doogle
Still interviewing in-house, are they? Scarborough (MSNBC) and anything he has to say does not interest me. Little wonder that his and Mathews' shows are raking the bottom of ratings.
Meds! Meds! I've lost my talking points memo. It will all be ok when Kati bitch slaps him back in line.
Must be a ratings period.
Nowadays, Scarborough is tepid at best in his support of Republican/conservative positions.
But he only did that because he knew Joe wouldn't take him up on the offer.
Great title for this thread. Looks like Matt actually can think. Maybe Matt was shocked back into reality by learning that Jay Rockefeller warned the Mid-East leaders that Bush was definitely going to invade Iraq.
Well, Joe did rouse himself after Lauer's second question. Scarborough said something to the effect that if he were in a campaign and his opponent was criticizing him, he would ask him to lay out his plan for Iraq, etc.
Try not watching ABC< NBC,CBS and C_SPAN in the morning. You will have a much more positive day.Top of the morning.
Joe Scarborough has also become soft. I used to watch his show on MSNBC at 10pm but after seeing his lineup of mostly hate America liberals like Lawrence O'Donnell, I can't even stand to watch him anymore. I find him agreeing with them more and more as if trying not to act conservative. Matt Lauer is a card carrying leftie and everybody knows it. There is not much hope left for him or NBC. They are in their last throws and they know it.
Thanks, syriacus. Matt strikes me as a regular guy, which makes his typical toeing of the liberal line that much more disappointing. Refreshing when, as this morning,he occasionally spits the bit.
NBC, CBS, CNN, ABC, MSNBC, CNBC, NY Times, Washington Post, Aljazeera, Boston Globe, Isvestia, Pravda, Jackass Party, - they're all the same.
The DemoRats have a plan. Their plan is to lose the war against terrorists and destroy the U.S. Constitution.
Thanks for not letting Rush be the only
one on a relentless pursuit of the truth bump.
