Nay, that I have not been..except through long-past Discovery CHannel specials on Parris Island...

...which, I'm very sure, isn't even 0.00001% of What It's really like there.

History channel's version is very sanitized.... (mind you I went through boot camp 12 years ago..)

My daughter up and joined the Corps this past February (not that she needed too BTW) and went to MCRTD Parris Island. Words cannot express how proud I am of her (and all members of the military). We flew back to see her graduate in June and it was some sight!! The only people on that entire base that had a grreater than 5% body fat were the attending family members. Even on Family day (the day before graduation) the D.I.'s politely reminded those about to graduate "You ain't on that bus yet!!!!"

Then the next morning when the platoons were marching to the Parade Deck one unfortunate soon to be new Marine lost his cover, he was immediately surrounded by 4 D.I.'s who abrubtly rode is ass all the way in unitl they were all assembled in formation...

My daughter went in with the A-typical teenage slouch and came out most definitely squared away...It only took her a week to stop saying Aye Sir or Aye Mam to everyone including the people at the Mcdonalds...

She has completed all of her Advanced Training ad was recently stationed in Yuma, Arizona, not to bad for a 5ft 2" tall 130 lb (gained 20lbs of solid muscle), 19 year young woman.
