You nailed it about Kennedy and his BS rant
I missed that. Thanks for apprising the forum.
I'm against the renewal, personally. There are only a few measures that sunset, and I don't perceive a temporary suspension of them to pose a risk to national security. Most of the act remains in force if this bill isn't passed.
All they want to do is make the President look bad and it is backfiring, again. If there is no vote on the Patriot Act the public will see this as a failure caused by the Democrats, not the President.
Yeah. The failure is a Senate failure, not a Presidential failure. That's pretty clear. The Senate is blaming the House for waiting 3 months to name conferees. The bill was passed by the Senate in July, but not taken up in conference until November.
Specter up rebuting the NYT and WP articles today
says they are wrong
Drinking--already? I just got out of bed an hour ago. I'll tell the hubbie to fire up the blender for fizzes...

It's not accuracy that matters, it's the seriousness of the charge ;)
How many flasks a game do you think they get?
They actually do monitor the info highway at various points, and have been, more so since 9/11.
But they can't use what they learn against any citizen without a warrant and without the FBI being in the lead.
This has been known by anyone who cared to know for years. It is not a secret and the NYT and WaPo has simply repacked some old crap for a new purpose.
They want to defeat the reauthorization of the patriot act so that the U.S. is much more vulnerable to AlQueda and a attack occurs during the Bush admin so that the Dems get the nod in 2008.
A very strange but true explanation.....(Truth being stranger than fiction at times)
ease dropping....?? Whazzat?
eavesdropping
oops....
ohhhh, LOL
Thanks
Hah! The NY Times stipulates they "sat" on the story for a year.
My very, very first thought, when I heard about this today, was the Times decided to publish it TODAY. What a coinkydink.
"We have more to fear from terrorists than this act" - Frist
Amen.
Here comes the vote!
here comes the vote
taking names!
be sure to also call senators that vote right! Thank them for their courage.
Little Sir Echo :)
How many of the Republicans voting with the Dems got money from Soros?
When we are attacked by Al Qaeda these traitors will feel the heat.
None that I know of. But one (Specter) that voted in favor of the conference report version did receive a campaign benefit from Soros - Soros donated to the Main Street Individucal Fund, which opposed Specter's opponent in the primary race.
