McPain up after Dayton.
Here's MCPAIN
This is all a moot point.
Bush gave McCain the anti torture bill so McCain can get a win. In exchange, MCCain as part of the gang of 14 will not support a filibuster of Alito.
In the end, with a majority in the SCOTUS, Bush will move to have the laws overturned by the high court because it is in the best interest of the country. SCOTUS will agree and the Patriot Act will once again come up for a vote.
Unfortunately the RATS and RINOS are using this to undermine the administration and give terrorists the tools to hit us again. Then they will blame Bush for not having tougher laws as the 9/11 commission stated.
Does anyone see this as ammo for the RATS in 2008?
Extreme unhappiness with the NYT and the realization that it was timed to help those who would vote against the Patriot Act. Much anger against the pubbie senators voting against cloture. They did this in part to deflect from the good news in Iraq as well. DiFi was up a while ago accusing the President of breaking the law.
As an Arizona resident he makes my blood BOIL. On a second note, is there a RINO party in control of the Senate back there? They cannot accomplish anything so why do we send them there? Recall all those that vote against your desires.
I just KNEW the dems would find something to make Bush look bad, just as they leave for the Christmas break...so that ALL of the news and interviews for weeks will be all about that NYTimes report
instead of the terrific, wonderful, astounding, uprecedented election in Iraq. Blech
I think I heard on the radio this morning, that Chris Wallace is going to have on Harry Reid on Sunday.---so, it starts...sigh
Actually, that could be amusing.
I saw where Robert Novak will be moving to Fox News....can't say I am excited about that.
He had really added to Bush's "misery" over this whole Plame crapola, by hinting that Bush has known and does know who the "leaker" is....
Since Fitzy has never established there ever was an illegal "leak"...for Novak to further implicate Bush is some kind of cover-up, by his latest remarks, makes me dislike him more than I did before.
He and Pat Buchanan are the same in my book...so-called conservatives that would like nothing more than to be part of taking down this President. bah!
Absolutely correct, nobody has violated any law. The NYSlimes had this story in their "Get Bush" portfolio for over a year, and choose to print today in order to (1) get the success of Iraq vote off the front page, and (2) to defeat the Patriot bill in Senate. The directive to NSA was fully disclosed to the Congress and does NOT violate any law, and I would doubt it violated any US citizen, unless he is on a "bad boy list" doing or planning bad things for the other citizens of this country, or perhaps transmitting or receiving child porn over comm channels.
"She is basically saying that the President violated the law which would be a high crime and misdemeanor, if true. They are trying to put another bullet in the impeachment gun, I think."
The Dems will never give up that dream

I can guarantee you if Bush went before the American public right NOW and said that, making everyone aware of what the socialist DemOcRats are doing and how they are enabling the terrorists and endangering every American, the Dems would be forced, by overwhelming public opinion (screw the polls), to do a 180 on this. But my guess is....Bush won't do what is necessary or what would work. He's speaking Sunday nite on Iraq but he won't mention this outrage and this traitorous leftist latesst stunt. He'll wait until we're attacked again, I bet. And then, it will be too late, since the Dems will merely blame Bush and demand immediate impeachment. Rush predicted how they'd be focused on impeachment since they lost three times in a row. Rush was right.
Somehow...some WAY....we need to either take back the MSM or at least get more moderate or pro-conservative (non-socialist) media outlets (on regular tv vs. just cable). One (Fox) just isn't cutting it. Especially when Fox stupidly hires idiots like Novak.
"If the Patriot Act goes down then I hope the President gets in front of the cameras and tell the American people that,"because of the Senate, on Jan 1 American People will no longer be as safe as they were on the day prior and if something tragic should happen those who voted against cloture could have the blood of innocent people on their hands".
Bolton strikes again?
"In other news - Deputy Sec Genl at UN just quit - 2nd highest at UN ..."
Now I have to wash my monitor again.
But that is after the fact, and as you say, and as I have been thinking ever since yesterday's fillibuster in the Senate, Bush should speak to this in his Sunday night address, as the Iraq elections actually pale in comparison of what could come out of the demise of the Patriot Act (or at least the important parts of it). But, like you, I know Bush won't say diddly squat, as he didn't say diddly squat while the Dems made him into a punching bag and he just took it for 6 months, ruining his number in the polls, and allowing the Dems to make major inroads on Iraq policy, and on their attempt to take back Congress in 2006. And what awaits Bush if the Dems take the House? That's right, impeachment. It will be their first order of business, and Bush will have brought it all on himself by his lousy PR with the public, or should I say the lack thereof.
