What are you talking about?
How many of our hands need to be tied behind our back, in investigating terrorists, before you will feel free, which will then be only for the limited time left it will then take for them to dump a dirty nuke in your city?

A disgrace? Haven't you seen the reports of Hillary putting people in camps?
She could be knocking on your door at any moment!
LOL, the consprazoids reign in this country, I think its too much Hollywood, ie, the bathhouse boys at the NYT, or Oprah.
Hilarious!

Four Republicans that I happen to agree with.
The PATRIOT act as written is horrible to American civil liberties.

Yet we never for a moment slowed the influx of African and Mideastern Muslims. Our southern borders are far from closed. The chant of "Religion of Peace" is on the lips of each of these pro-PA voters today. These are the true failures here, disguised by cries that Congress isn't protecting us by renewing the Patriot Act. Watch the gun confiscation videos at
http://www.gunowners.org/notb.htm and see what you think... This is NOT the America of our forefathers. The true threats aren't being discussed in earnest yet.

"Imagine what Hillary or John Kerry could do with it!"
Why don't you "imagine" it for us and explain, using the text of the Patriot act and not some pundit's talking points.

Good for them! Read the BOR and Constitution some time.To bring about a fascist state, all one need do is scare the populace.
Or in this case, take advantage of an externally-produced scare.

I would appreciate knowing why Craig and Sununu voted as they did on the Patriot Act. I thought Craig was an arch-conservative.

Yeah ... Hillary might get her hands on some FBI files.

Just called Hagel's office, told them he would NEVER get my vote if he runs for president.

"I shudder to think how the Democrats might put the Patriot Act to work for them." Yeah ... Hillary might get her hands on some FBI files. Revoking the Patriot Act would stop Hillary just as effectively as gun control laws stop criminals.

Too much being made of this. Some minor tweaks should be made and revote. It all has to go to the House/Senate conference anyway so tweaks aren't final regardless.
Frist should have been sure this bill was crafted more carefully so as to be passed along to the conference. This was stupid.

You can take a vacation with McCain and Bin Laden.First you say this. Do you expect a rational person to take you seriously on the following (wrong) statements after making that odious, cheapshot, incorrect, non-sequitor?
There is nothing unconstitutional about the Patriot Act.
Bull.

We don't know the whole story behind these National Guard and CHP (yes, that's California Highway Patrol)
gun confiscations in the Katrina crisis. I suspect that the orders came from the Democratic Governor. But it's a foreshadowing of things to come. Security at the expense of liberty is no security.
To: libertyman
One has only to read the hysterical posts here on this thread to see that the American sheep are indeed asleep.
If this were Bill Clinton and the democrats that were pushing for the bill these same people would be raging from the rooftops in opposition.
The Government may make all the laws they desire but they will not stop evil people with intent to do us harm. Instead these unwise laws can and will be used against anyone and everyone that the Government desires.
These foolish people are looking for guaranteed security and, that will never happen.
