You're absolutely right of course, and initially I was perplexed as to why anyone would take issue with your posts which in my view and I would daresay the view of most are nicely-articulated obvious and well-established truths, at least to anyone who reads anything outside of a hard-Left press for their news. But then I remembered that this is the way things have always been:
Prior to WW2, the Left screeched and hollered about how Hitler was our friend and that there were no Nazis in America. When the American Nazi Party became too big for even the Left to ignore, they tried to convince us that they were the true American Patriots and they were absolutely no threat to us. The sane people in America argued to the contrary and history has shown that they, not the Left, were correct.
Most of us remember the Vietnam era all too well, where the Commies were cast as Freedom Fighters by the Left and how they were only benevolent brethren to us all and how we should join them, not fight them. They eventually got their way in Congress (Ted Kennedy a prime mover on this issue) and the result was the slaughter of millions in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos when we pulled out. Once again the sane people in America argued against the pullout and warned of the bloodbath and Communist hellhole that would follow, and of course they were again proven to be correct.
Throughout the Cold War era the Left argued that there were no Commies in America and certainly not in American government, but if they were it wasn't any of our business and they were our friends anyway....they were the true Patriots and of course meant us no harm. Once again, the Left is proven wrong but will still never admit it, just like any of their other failures.
Same template for South America and anywhere else the Left had a dog in a fight.....they first tell us that the problem doesn't exist and is a product of our racist imaginations, and then when it becomes too big for even them to ignore they claim that the opposition are all our friends and are freedom fighters anyway and we need to understand and embrace them, and that any thought that they could possibly mean us any harm is all a product of our evil, anglo-racist stereotyping and we are just such awful people to even think such a thing and we should be ashamed.
Such is the history of the 20th Century and it appears that they haven't felt the need to get a new template because the old one has worked so darned well for them.
