Toussaint would have us believe that his subway and bus workers are on par with impoverished coal miners in the early years of the 20th century. But consider these facts: The starting salary for a subway operator is $52,644 before overtime. By contrast, starting salaries for New York's cops, firefighters and sanitation workers are roughly half that amount.
What's more, the average station agent makes about $51,000, and subway cleaners earn about $40,000.

They are drowning in poverty aren't they(/sarcasm).

I say he won't even make it half way across before he wimps out because it's too cold.

"The Mayor looked a wee bit pissed off on the TV just now." When you lie down with dogs, you get up with fleas. Unions are nothing but whiney scum sucking infantile parasites, protecting the mediocre (and worse) and using their members' dues to promote anti-American garbage candidates that most of the membership wouldn't even break bread with. As a (thankfully) former member of the IBEW, I know of which I speak.
Bloomberg is getting what he deserves. Hopefully he'll grow a set out of this incident and fire the lot of them. But I rather doubt that will happen. And frankly, my dear, I don't much givadam. BWAHAHAHAHAHA.

Forced walking will get some of that lard off their bellies and butts for the world's fattest city. I guess you've never seen the folks around Lincoln Center, or Central Park. I worked on an assignment about 8 years ago on 61st and Broadway. The females are very trim, and have a terrific walk.

Bloomie is such a yutz, in his goofy sweater, vowing to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge in solidarity with stranded NYCers. LOL! (I can laugh -- I'm in Boston!) I heard his statement this morning, asking for New Yorkers to show their famous "patience and resilience." This is the same guy who was practically sending out storm troopers to be sure no NY business had even a clean, unused ashtray on the premises? An illegal strike, however, . . . well, patience and resilience is just the ticket here!

Correction.
Toussaint is originally from Trinidad.
Now that I think about, he does an Anglo accent.

I scabbed as a banquet waitress when I was working my way through college.
It was DANGEROUS. And that was only waitressing.

The workers deserve more pay. Look at their labor. They have to stop the trains, then start them - stop, then start, stop then start - repeating this hundreds of time over a day. It becomes quite stressful and fatiguing. I feel for the poor oppressed workers.
