An unexpected side effect of all of this is the homeless and the drug addicts who usually ride the trains all night have been disgorged from the system and are hanging around at Penn Station. All those nut jobs in one place...there's bound to be an incident or two.

I answered, with like minded garbage fitting for your ego.
Strike means nothing...get out and walk.

I didn't realize this thread was going to devolve into trading snaps/the dozens so quickly.

You think in a city as big as NYC everyone and anyone who is there and faces the impact of this strike are NYC residents?
Many of my neighbors up here, 50 miles out of the city won't be able to get to work today before 11 am unless they have 4 or more people riding along with them to go into the city.

I didn't realize this thread was going to devolveThen you haven't been paying attention lately. There are more Taliban candidates on this board than there are in some desert countries of the world.

Reason #532 not to become dependent on mass transit.

Why don't you add something relevant besides personal attacks.
Strike means nothing... only effects those who can't cope.
To: MissouriConservative
That would take a certain amount of courage severely lacking in the Big Apple.

My workplace, a downtown law firm, tried to arrange car service rides for everyone into work but couldn't get enough cars. The office manager arranged sharing arrangement so that each of the 6 cars they could get would pick up 3-4 "essential" workers. Needless to say, I am off today!
I work on the Help Desk on a swing shift but am classified as part of the "night staff" and the night shift has been cancelled. The Day Supervisor told me I should walk into work and back home (a 2-1/2 mile walk which I do anyway during daylight hours unless it is too cold, snowy, rainy) and work a 9-5 schedule, but my manager (bless her soul!) overruled her and said that I couldn't be required to walk to and from work when no one else was being required to.
I am very happy to have a day off to clean my house but if the strike continues past tomorrow (and the temperature hits 30) I'll offer to come into work even though I am not required to because my house will be clean and I am a hardworking conservative Republican.

"Strike Is On TWU Announces System-Wide Transit Strike, Starting Immediately December 20, 2005"
Isn't this illegal in NYS?
It's time Bloomberg pulled a Regan. Fire all of them and hire replacements permanently. Amen.

As has already been pointed out, this is a problem with organized labor-in this case, the seemingly insatiable TWU Local 100-not mass transit.
Public sector employees should not be unionized for this very reason!
They have a monopoly on the service they offer.
It doesn't make sense.

Now go to bed. It's late. You need the rest. You've another full day in which to post useless drivel ahead of you.

No, just a jackass.
Though I suppose it's a fine distinction.
To: gakrak
That would be the answer, "can them all" and set up a non-union transit system...otherwise the same thing will arise again if the other unions see it worked.
Non-skilled jobs are replacable...
