Bikini? No, burqini

ITSY-BITSY, teeny-weeny bikinis are common -- but now multicultural Australia has head-to-foot "burqinis".

Designer Aheda Zanetti calls the outfit an "Islamic bikini" because it has pants and a top.

She said the costume, marketed under the name Ahiida and available on the internet, covered everything except hands, feet and face.

She said it had a "hijood", named after the traditional hijab. Mother-of-four Adeeba Nabulsi said the outfit allowed her to swim with her children in mixed-sex public pools.

I was not necessarily ascribing that opinion to you. My apologies if my post seemed to imply that. I was responding rhetorically to the implied reason anyone would subject their daughters to wearing a clown suit to the pool.

If the muslims were so offended by what they were seeing at the beach, why were they hanging out there all day everyday? Those fruit-loops need to go emigrate to Syria where they belong. They deserved the ass-kicking they got.

There's nothing wrong with a bit of modesty at all, but islam defaulted on their moral authority to preach to us a long time ago.

I did not say they had any such. What they do have is the prime examples of moral decadance in this country (often displayed with glee on this board) that is disturbing to any decent human being of any religion.

I don't care if women of any religion CHOOSE to wear a 1905 swimsuit.

What I don't want is to get to the point where muslims DEMAND that women cover up....or else.

If you haven't followed the crisis in Australia, it began with muslim men cursing Aussie girls for wearing Western swimsuits on the beach, calling them whores and sluts, and demanding they cover up or leave.

I didn't say they were offended.

I believe they were getting their asses kicked by the local Aussies because they think the local girls look and act like whores and sluts, it's OK for them to treat them as such.

The 9/11 bombers didn't blink an eye before flying their planes into the world trade center buildings after going to the hottest all nude strip clubs in Florida days before meeting their maker in hell.

Strange dichotomy at play in the Muslim mind. Kill we and blow us up because of our so called decadent social mores, yet go see naked women themselves.

I think that any man (of any religion or no religion) who is "offended" by the sight of healthy young women in swimsuits has his own problems to deal with.

For active sports such as skin diving, surfing, diving, etc, nothing can beat skin tight spandex. Anything else is like swimming with a parachute tied to your ankle.

I am reminded of an Indonesian ferry boat disaster a few years back. Most of the men survived, but virtually all of the women, in their "correct and modest" dress, drowned.
