Well put. Looking back from my 50's, probably the only thing that kept me from being such an "offender" was sheer inability to "get lucky". Which brings up the only good point in the box. Shame and fear of disapproval are vastly more effective regulators of social behavior than law. One reason I never got lucky was that girls in my day really believed there were bad consequences to irresponsible sex. In a given year, a handful of girls in school would go to "help a sick aunt" in another state and an adopting couple would be made happy, but only a few. That was before ninth grade classes gave in-school baby showers to ninth grade mothers.

What social disapproval used to accomplish without trying hard now has idiot prosecuters turning legal theory inside out trying to replicate. Aside from being stupid, it will be ineffective and chew up mega-bucks paying lawyers on both sides

Yes, let us hope shame or stigma never return to our society. We are much better off without them.

Should exceptions be made by age when the very act they committed is not legal or sensible?

And what a very unfair question was asked. I am glad you caught this poster before any more such inanities could be written.

I had written this offline, but since I see your comment, and know you promote yourself as someone religious, (of which I'm not all that much, admittedly), it's just as applicable to your own hypocritical idiocy:

What would you have said if she'd had an abortion? With your kind the girl can't win.

Do you have any children? If one of you daughters gets pregnant, will you be an abusive pig and call her a little whore? Or will you recognize that ultimately she's imperfect in an imperfect Universe? Isn't that why Jesus was sent here?

You've got some nerve, referencing Jesus in your tagline….

I like this saying, "the law is not sacrosanct", as laws made by man cannot be. Some in this post think that by showing Christian love and compassion to those who break convention they are somehow condoning bad behavior. They think that I am fearful of "judging" by showing compassion. That is not the case. I can and do freely judge the words and actions of others around me. We all do by the things we do or do not do, and the places we go or do not go. However, "judging" should not be confused with calling somebody a "whore" or other pejorative that makes that person less than human, and then by lack of humanness open for the most vile of persecution. The laws of man are not sacrosanct. Only the laws of God are that. I am not God, therefore I cannot judge as does God. My opinions are just that, opinions, not divine utterances. But still I do judge based on how I understand the Bible and Gods word. But don't confuse me with Phelps or other people who hate in Gods name.

It's a good thing you didn't call the baby a bast... Then people would really be indignant.

Today society sexualizes young people more than ever....

All the more reason to give them a break, especially considering the amount of people here who seem to constantly promote Hollyweird.

And as I just said in another post, they didn't have an abortion.

What are they to think of certain Freepers passing judgment on them so? We were all imperfect kids once. I can't imagine calling one of my kids a little whore, but some don't seem to mind showing the world their true mettle, and others don't seem to mind running to their defense, which also speaks volumes as to what brand of creature they identify with most.

Off my soapbox....

This stupidness makes the sex offenders web site useless. I go there and have to try to figure out who is a real offender and who happens to have had a girlfriend/boyfriend younger than themselves. Again the real offenders get to blend in with the crowd.

Excellent Point. Watering down the definition of sex offender serves no one.

How shameful. Unwed mother and the boyfriend are enshrined on the front page.

You know the silly part of this, according to the ancient Jewish and Christian faith they can actually be married at that age. Most people not so long ago were married by the time they were sixteen. Now we tell teenagers to wait until your are older to marry and if you fail to keep them separated well, like my preacher says, you take two teens put them together alone and don't be suprised if a baby is on the way.

So now the really painful thing is they are goig to be marked for life as sex offenders. For doing what a teenager will naturally do if left alone too long with other teens.

My wife was a bastard. I guess she should have been aborted.

Or little whores, or "trash", whatever, and by so-called upstanding Freepers too.

I don't have any kids (had a son, now gone), but I'd just soon stomp those pseudo religious fakers as look at them if they'd said that about mine.

Is there evidence, not in the article, that this is not a "one off", but that shows she has a history of predating younger boys?

If not, then it is logic only a judge can understand to label her a 'sex offender'.

Sigh; different times; different standards. When I grew up up, we played 'doctor'; guess now they play 'lap dancer'.

I believe that the folks worried about labeling the children sex offenders are very concerned for the well being of the kids. don't lump them into the group calling them whores or other pejoratives.

I seriously doubt it's for life. Virtually all offenses by minors are wiped from their records at age 18.

When I enlisted in the navy in 2003 at age 34, records from both a speeding ticket from age 16 and a misdemeanor trespassing violation from age 17 surfaced including, date, time, place and arresting officer. These offenses were (obviously) committed in the 1980s.

She's a sex offender and computer recordkeeping is much more sophisticated now than it was back then. This will be with her for life. The gift that keeps on giving.

There are plenty on this forum who think each and every sex offender should be strung up by piano wire, castrated and have their eyes put out with hot pokers regardless of the details of their crime. I hope some of them meander on to this thread.

"May the new year bring you what exists in your heart."

And what would that be - that kids shouldn't be having sex? Now that's a radical idea!

Cane the public school system and a culture that wont let parents discipline children or a nation that uses sex as a commercial lubricant.

Everything sells with it and lets the money slide out of the wallet oh so easily...

Kids are inculcated with sex from the first tv show they watch.

Their friends are pretty much all doing it and if both parents work..in order to afford a home...who is babysitting the latch key kiddies....Why Mr TV of course...

I once worked at a publicly funded juvie detention facility that was co-ed (it is no longer- thank goodness).

The kids were doing 'it' in the bathrooms while their friends stood guard in between classes (13 and 14 yr olds)...it was impossible to monitor all of them..and more than a couple of the girls got pregnant..(one set of kids even got busted in one of the coolers in the mess hall while they were on KP)

And this was 25 yrs ago...I imagine it got quite unmanageable before they ended the 'co-edness'.

A socialist government and correction system run by social workers well brainwashed with the 'Milwaukee School' ideology.

imo
