Didn't say I wouldn't. Just haven't yet. Maybe sometime after the guy dies a natural or unnatural death.

Agreed...the Pope can forgive him all he wants but the Pope has no right to endanger the communities upon which this man may prey (pun intended).

That said, it is not the Pope releasing this killer, it is the Turkish government at the request of prison officials in....? not sure which prison officials. Just glad it's not here, we'd have to give him an allowance and a tent in the burbs.

He had already served his time for shooting the pope. This was the sentence he was serving in Turkey for killing a journalist there.

25 years in a Turkish prison? I'm amazed he's still alive.

I was lurkin in the moonbat cave and they are actually posting something about the Regan assasination attempt and concluding it had something to do with Bush the Elder. The Bushes are trying to run the universe I guess LOL..............

Supposedly the brother of John Hinckley was to have dinner with Jeb the day after the shooting.

Is that even factually correct ?

2) the offender has taken responsibility for the crime and expressed full remorse.

Taken responsibility for the crime? Are you kidding me? He committed the crimes he was accused of and, therefore, there is no need to ask him whether he takes responsiblity for them.

Whatever remorse he expressed is a lie typical of all Middle Eastern people. I expect Agca to be in the news again soon after his release. A leopard does not change his spots.

10 year sentence for murder, 20 year stint for attempted murder. Hmmm.

Notice how the thugs who shot the pope and Ronald Reagan will be freed but the criminal who shot John Lennon will be in jail for life.

Notice that John Lennon ...DIED???

"Anatolia said he was expected to be immediately enlisted by the military for obligatory service, Anatolia said."

Yeah, put a machine gun in his hands, that's the ticket.

One in his hand, ten at his back.

You feel lucky?

... while the Pope and Reagan didn't die.

Um, wait.

Let them go free if they are incompetent? Release them so they can get more range-time and do better next time?

I'm not an RC so I have no reason to forgive a man that murdered a journalist and tryed to murder a living saint. He should have been hung.

Quite Possibly, though I don't think it's likely. After all, Putin began his career in the Fifth Directorate of the KGB in the early 80's--which dealt primarily with dissidents and universities.

It's possible Putin might have known about Agca, and the plot to unseat the Pope, but based on my research, and thus knowing generally where and when he served in the KGB, I have a hard time believing it. Therefore, I don't think Putin would be out to knock Agca off.

The SVR might--as it was formed out of the First Chief Directorate, but if they whacked him, the Russians would find themselves in a diplomatic nightmare with not just the CIS states that border the Middle East proper, but the international community.

I also note that my observations on the current events in Moscow enable me to conclude that the Russians' economic and democratic reforms are contingent on Russian success with international relations--when things go in the crapper overseas for Russia, things take a crap domestically as well.

Basically, it boils down to this: Russia tries to whack this Agca guy, and they're up the creek without a paddle. It's the classic suicide move all around, at least as far as Russia's concerned. Putin's career will be destroyed, and the government will have another convulsion, making an already wobbly Russian democracy all the more unstable.
