Amazing to think such a scumbag can be this nation’s Senate Majority Leader.
Come to Sopranostan to see some REAL corruption. We recently had 11 local officials indicted for accepting “the envelope under the door.”
A little fact checking would help here Fedora.
ABSCAM sent several people to Club Fed including a US Senator from New Jersey.
IIRC, BCCI wasn't under investigation until well after Carter left office. (It hit around the same time as the S&L scandal.
Hamilton Jordan was never Treasury Secretary (he was Carter's Chief of Staff) and to my knowledge, the cocaine thing was never "under investigation." It was Washington gossip column stuff after Carter left office.
I'm not defending Carter or Dirty Harry, but facts are important things to get right.

Speaking of Sopranostan, though, I don’t get into it much in the article, but there’s a brief mention of the Doumanis and Rizzolo, as you might know there are some Jersey connections in the background of that. Also found some interesting stuff when I started trying to track down Reid’s Indian casino ties out-of-state, but it got too complicated to try to cover in one place.

I did already correct myself on the Hamilton’s title a bit further up the thread, and you are quite correct there—noticed that after I had already posted, unfortunately. On the other two items, I would defend my original wording, though it would take considerable space and go beyond the scope of the article to get into details. Briefly: on ABSCAM, they did nail a few but there were others who got off. On BCCI, yes, it was not fully investigated until later, but it was already operating under Carter and one of the principals involved, Bert Lance, was already controversial early into Carter’s term. There are a few sections in the BCCI final report touching on BCCI’s connections to Georgia and Carter.
Reid is so mobbed up that he's a walking, talking blackmail machine. Axlerod and Rhambo could order him to tar and feather himself and walk naked down Pennsylvania Ave and he would do so instantly.

I disagree. Our current crook in the WH is dirtier. No one who grew up in Chicago is unaware that a good pol in Chicago is one who stays bought, even if he goes to the slam.
Blago kept his trap shut, so he won't have to worry about a living after he gets out of the federal country club.
(He also knows that his kids would get a face full of acid if he started to turn canary.)
