I agree with your take. And there was no mention of what conservative Texans fear -- that Katrina evacuees who have settled in Texas may change red counties to blue counties.
Houston acted first and swiftly. Mayor Bill White and County Judge Robert Eckels should get the lion's share of the credit.
I think the Chronicle unintentionally made DeLay look good. It sounds like he was very concerned about the safety of Houston's residents, and that's why I like having him as my Congressman.
I too wonder where the evacuees got alcohol after being holed up in the superdome (and wrecking it I might add) for a week?
I also think Perry's staff did a great job considering nothing like this has ever happened before.
Violent crime is up by a third for 2006 from last year and it is only January!!
Part of the article was to make DeLay, Perry, and the whole repubbie staff to look bad/evil/dispassionate/greedy/ and publicity seeking ... Which the headline writer intended.
But the real story (inside the headline) is that the demo's were one who came off picky/whiny/and publicity-seeking!
Yup. Perry et al had their heads up through the entire thing from this Texan's viewpoint. All this does is confirm my opinions of him.
You would have to be completely brain dead to NOT worry about what Louisiana was sending us. And how to handle the flood of humanity.
This hack job appears to have been created to balance the embarrassments coming out of Blank-o's and Naw-gin's email. "Texas isn't any better," is what they're trying (and failing) to prove.
The point is to attempt to smear the governor with evidence that actually makes him look like he was just trying to do a good job.
Empty the contents of a city and you get the bad with the good. Many of those who should have been put in jail weren't because it was impractical.
To hurt Perry's reelection chances.
To point out more idiocy from Perry? Which is already known by most of us, so I guess your right. What's the point?
You are kidding right? Blanko has released her internal emails because congress asked for them and she has been raked through the coals because of her needing to "look" like she was out there helping. Nagin is the laughing stock of the country at the moment, he doesn't need to release his emails, he just shoots his mouth off incessantly on camera or on the radio.
What has been revealed is that yes, the governor opened up his state to help it's neighbor out but that it wasn't all done in a totally altruistic way. It's okay to be smart about things but facts are facts. Politicians are politicians who will be always be looking for the next election. I think the only one who hasn't looked at the next election in their response was President Bush.
I think Americans are gradually beginning to see past the LSM coverage or lack of it.
I hope so, too. There really is no reason to publicize these working emails, except to cast aspersions on the Governor and his staff. Texans stepped up to the plate in a huge way to help the Flood victims, and anyone without an axe to grind knows it.

Just a wee bit biased, you say! Thanks for the info.

They trashed all the skyboxes, and their contents.
What is the point of this article?
The "communications director" wrote that...!?? How do you become a "communications" professional when you haven't mastered 8th grade English?
"Question between you and I..."
That was the first thing that jumped out at me. Wow. And the communications director at that!
