Like I've said before on the Puff Ping threads. Why doesn't anyone ever say when they go nonsmoking, there are grant entitlements from the Cigarette Restitution Fund. The thing of it is, most of the money is being paid for by smokers who pay taxes on cigarettes. That is usually in the state that the smoker resides.
But this group is overseas. So, I am not sure if our Federal Government is sending smokers tax dollars to that group or not. This group is new to me. I never heard of them before.
And I thought the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation were pigs!

Yikes. I'm not sure you followed all of this either. Most of this money is coming from an NGO. Not the feds!

I wish I could remember the saying that goes something like this - when they came for our (fill in the blank), I didn't mind cause I didn't have any. There seem to be several versions of the saying out there used by the Right and the Left. The version I always heard was on libertarian sites: "First they came for the Jews, and I was silent because I was not a Jew. Then they came for the guns, and I was silent..." Ending with, "When they came for me, there was no one left to speak out."
But it appears it started as a saying against the Nazis.
Well... I just did a little too much research on that one. :-0 Back to work...

What are Nongovernmental Organizations (NGOs)
(joint) Transnational organizations of private citizens that maintain a consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. Nongovernmental organizations may be professional associations, foundations, multinational businesses, or simply groups with a common interest in humanitarian assistance activities (development and relief). Nongovernmental organizations is a term normally used by non-United States organizations.
NGO Global Network
http://www.ngo.org
This site is the home page for our global NGO community (Non-governmental organizations associated with the United Nations).
Its aim is to help promote collaborations between NGOs throughout the world, so that together we can more effectively partner with the United Nations and each other to create a more peaceful, just, equitable and sustainable world for this and future generations.

Well, I'm to old now to let them mold ME in the way they want me to go.I'm with you kid. Let's just grab a couple of shotguns and sit on the front porch with them across our knees for the rest of our days. ;-)
To: Calpernia
Nope, I didn't know about them until you posted this thread.
I just banged mindlessly around until I stumbled onto it.

But don't lose site on the fact that it is going to data storage systems NOT OF THE USA!!!!That is very frightening.
Almost as bad as a bunch of do-gooding American liberals getting their sweaty talons on the data.

I feel sorry for anyone under the age of 35 today. They are in the midst of "Dumbing Down of America!"
Try being one of them caught in the nightmare. But *I* know what I'm doing, and what's better, and what is RIGHT for me. But my INSURANCE plan, from my employer, thinks they know so much better. *cry* Let's see... in the last 72 hours, I couldn't get the meds to take away my migraines, so my doc gave me samples instead - the insurance won't pay for them because they are 'new'. Um... I can't go to my pain doctor anymore because I have to pay $1000 in out of pocket bills before the insurance will even touch it. Even though he belongs to the same plan and group. Oh, and I ended up paying $50.00/month more for medications because they increased our copays for prescriptions to $15 & $25 respectively, and of course.... there are no generics for Advair or Accolate, or any of these, ya know... life saving drugs.
What I want to know is the pharmaceutical and insurance big business ties are to our government, and why they are plotting to keep sick, if for no other reason than from worry that we WILL get sick and have to pay these obscene premiums. What's really the worst is that I'm only 32. It's not going to get any easier for me, physically, emotionally or any other way. Something has *got* to be done about the state of our nation's health care, and Billary ain't the way. Neither is socialism like Canada or Britain (2 months wait to see my doc for a migraine??? uh, no.. thanks). And someone else hit the nail on the head that said, not even cost of living increases can keep up with all of this. I'm drowning, and no one is there to save us this time. :9

Sorry for all that you are going through. Can't be easy.
I have heard that Seniors have to make a decision between their meds and putting food on the table. It really sucks.
