Because of your efforts, NBC cancels 'Book of Daniel'

Because of your efforts, NBC cancels 'Book of Daniel'

Dear (just received this through e-mail),

NBC's anti-Christian program The Book of Daniel has been cancelled! Your efforts, combined with those of hundreds of thousands of other AFA Online supporters, had an impact.

NBC's decision to pull The Book of Daniel shows the power of the pocketbook. NBC didn't want to eat their economic losses. Had NBC not had to eat millions of dollars each time it aired, NBC would have kept The Book of Daniel on the air. Because of your efforts, the sponsors dropped the program. NBC then decided it didn't want to continue the fight.

Even an impassioned plea by Daniel's producer Jack Kenny could not match your participation. "Ordinarily, I would never ask anyone to do this, but the AFA and bullies like them are hard at work to try and prevent you from seeing these beautiful shows, and that is censorship—pure and simple. And that is both un-Christian and un-American," Kenny wrote. His attitude is typical in today’s society. Non-Christians telling Christians what is Christian.

People like Kenny don't want people like you to have a voice. They want to deny you the right to get involved. You are supposed to sit back and take the trash. And when you do speak up they call you names.

This shows us that we don't have to simply sit back and take the trash, but we can get involved and fight back with our pocketbooks. I want to thank the 678,394 individuals who sent emails to NBC and the thousands who called and emailed their local affiliates.

Thanks for caring enough to get involved!

Finally, if you think our work is deserving of support, would you please send a small donation to help us continue. Click here.

Sincerely,

Don

Donald E. Wildmon, Founder and Chairman American Family Association

P.S. Please forward this e-mail message to your family and friends!

Well, I only got a C in statistics, so I'm no wonk, but it sure seems like there's something wrong there somewhere, or the nets would be producing more shows that people would actually want to watch.

I watched it - it was a boring, bad show. It would have been better to let it die a natural death.... now its a little bit easier to present Christians as being intolerent.

The trend for many years is people watching more cable than broadcast programming.

Nielsen just introduced DVR (Tivo, etc) ratings to be included, while some DirectTV users have set meters in them.

"Anyone with a TiVo or a DirecTV box is supplying viewership data as far as I know. Whether or not Nielsen uses this info is another matter."

Those of us with DirecTivos have the option of unplugging the phone cable since we get show data through the sattelite - stand alone Tivo users have to trust Tivo.

" I must disagree. They would never air SouthPark on a major network. "

Isn't it on FOX now?

There is strength in numbers.

According to 2004 CNN exit polls, Bush voters included 38% of union members, 40% of those with union members in their households, 42% of those earning $15,000-$30,000, 44% of those who earn under $50,000 and 44% of Latinos, 45% of youth (aged 18-29), 13% of liberals—even 11% of Democrats voted for Bush. 2004 Election polls indicated 34% called themselves conservative, 21% liberal. Christians control 2/3'rds of the Nation's assets.

According to analysts at the EWTN religious network, "The World Over Live" report asserted that, with the exception of VA, where Catholics spit 70/30 in favor of Bush, the majority of Catholic voters split 55/45 for Bush.....a whopping number of votes since Catholics number about 52 million Americans.

So important was the Catholic loss, that Democratic strategists issued a memo on the loss of Catholics among its constituencies.

READ MEMO HERE: http://www.cwnews.com/news/viewstory.cfm?recnum=36492

The memo authored by a prominent Democratic strategy organization calls the decline in support of white Catholics for Democrats "striking" and "a big part of the 2004 election story."

One of the analysis' key findings is that Catholic voters are becoming more pro-life, which the authors called "a factor in the recent losses and one of the blockages for Democrats, at least in the Midwest."

The data also reveals that young Catholics are more pro-life than their parents and that bishops who speak out against pro-abortion politicians help bolster the pro-life vote. "

The show was really bad. My teenage boys, who aren't that discriminating, tried to watch it, and were off doing something else after 8 minutes.

Or maybe it was just because the show sucked and nobody watched.

Here in Connecticut, South park is on a major network in the evening (Fox, I think...not the "big 3" perhaps but much bigger than UPN or the WB). I do not have cable.

And now that I think about it, I wonder if NBC's affiliates had anything to do with this...
