NFL Network just gave an important stat 5-17 on 3rd down conversions. What's especially important about that is Seattle faced fewer 3rd downs than any team in the league this season. That's really the game right there, as you say the big plays, being forced to more 3rd down than the other team (Steelers were 8 of 15, remarkable when you consider their first 3 possessions) and converting on less than 1/3 will cost you the game.

And let's not forget the gadget plays. I've never seen one gadget play build off another like that before. The 1st half reverse then the 2nd half fake reverse to the TD throw were pretty impressive, Seattle had to respect the reverse the second time around.

Were their bad calls? Yes. Did some go against Seattle? Sure. Is that why they lost? No. Again I go back to Cowher, if you lose "because" of the refs then you really lost because you put yourself in a position where the refs mattered too much.

Even if he is healthy they won't make it unless their defense takes a huge step forward.

The Colts didn't play anybody either.

Wonder why the media didn't pick up on that. I know theyt wrote about how the Seahawks hadn't played any tough teams...and at the time there was like .03% difference in difficulty of schedule between the Hawks and the Colts (it grew a little more different by the end).

They played the Colts AFTER Dungy's son died and the streak ended, completely meaningless game for both teams

Neither team played their number ones the whole game...while the number ones were in the Hawks were beating the Colts.

and by the time they got to the Panthers the name of their entire offense was Smith (Goings was their 3rd string RB, the real 4th stringer got hurt earlier in the season, so when Goings went down the Panthers were on their FIFTH string RB... wonder who the ball is going to).

True, however that's pretty much the way the Panthers offense played all year anyway...not just after Goings went down.

Nobody I saw underrated Hassleback, the mantra I saw was the chance Seattle had to win was because of him.

Perhaps I should clarify. I didn't mean that people were taking Hasselbeck down, I meant that he was generally underrated most of the year...meaning, he's much better than he's given credit for. He wasn't talked down all that much, but not given credit for being a top tier QB...which I believe it's clear he is. The receiving core is acceptable, but not studly...put a real recieving star and watch out. I'm guessing they will address defense and WR in the draft...and quite likely another RB, although I'd be surprised if they did that in the first round.

Indy will be the favorite if they get rid of Peyton Manning.

Your tagline is lame, and so are your Sea Chickens...and so are your excuses...face it, your team was beaten by a FAR superior team.

BTW, was Jeramy Stevens hearing footsteps?? "OOps...I dropped another one...

Didja notice that Joey Porter got the last hit on Jack-jaw Jeramy on the last play??

Seattle reminded me of the Pats loss to GB in Super Bowl 31. They just gave up too many big plays.

1. The commercials stunk again this year.

:O

Hummer ad that featured a monster and a robot. The mudflap girl/Yosemite Sam Honda Ridgeline commercial. The FedEx commercial with the cavemen. The PotC: Dead Man's Chest movie ad.

More memorable than last year's, at any rate.

... I JUST HEARD THIS WILL BE THE LOWEST RATED SUPERBOWL EVER. I DO BELIEVE IT. ....

Hope so because that piece of crap is an embaressment to the game.

(And some of the Steelers fans on this site are pretty pathetic too. A win is a win but it diminishes them to have the game given to them when the could have won it on their own.)

The horns of a dilemma! My late puppy was a bird dog and I *told* her that this whistling bobwhite on a Quail Springs commercial was a real quail, so her ears always pricked up when it came on and she started going into a point. My DH was furious. Luckily, she got to meet lots of real ones and she also figured out the TV wasn't "real life" and ignored it until she left us.

Do you think any of the sports media will still pick Indy to win it all next year?

Yes they will ............. gotta go to bed now.................. I have five fat male cats to keep me warm.

This way I can keep the thermostat at 50 degrees.

Anyhow.............. thank you for your great interest in sports. You know your stuff.......... and I know my fat cats!

When are you going to get it through your head that I'm a Denver and Dallas fan and have no interest in either of these teams? Jeez. You just MUST appease yourself by imagining that all this ruckus is a zillion upset Seahawk fans.

How many damn fans do the Seahawks have. A gazillion? Cause I see a gazillion complaints about this game here, on MSNBC, on SI, on CNN...every damn where.

Man those Seahawks have a a lot of crybaby fans. Like almost everybody that watched the game. Thats a lot. Who woulda known.

Why didn't you ping the people you are talking about? I'm not sure who all you are referencing, but the post between these two is the one you posted from.
