That's what makes Dallas' win against the Steelers in SB 30 so sweet. Dallas finaly beat them at their own game. the Cowboys outplayed and outlasted them. And the refs were never allowed an oppurtunity to change the outcome. Dallas did what it took to overcome any BS call that would affect the game.

Several thoughts on your cumulative comments:

1) Take away the touchdown that wasn't (I agree that was a bad call) and what do you get? Steelers 14 Seattle 10. Congratulations, Seattle covers the spread.

2) Seattle lost it on the field. 50 yard advantage in total offense...big deal. You can't win when you make less then 50% of your third down conversions, throw key interceptions and complete 50% of your passes.

3) I'm a long time USC fan who went to the Rose Bowl against Texas. Vince Young scored a "phantom" touchdown and USC lost a close one. But it was not because of that bad call, it was because USC could not stop that man when they needed to. Period

4) I try to live by something my old coach taught us:

"ONLY LOSERS COMPLAIN ABOUT BAD OFFICIATING"

Well, there was ONE interception- following a bogus holding call. There might have been another 7 points there.

Dear All,

I guess I must be one of those odd kind of guys who likes American Football. Simply because, I am an Indian Catholic Christian living in India who can follow every part of the game and I have yet to find any Indian who can understand this game in India or even when I was living in the United States.

The SuperBowl Game between the Seattle SeaHawks and the Pittsburgh Steelers was shown live on E.S.P.N. at 5.00 a.m. in the morning I.S.T. -- don't ask me what I was doing up at that unearthly hour but I was awake and thoroughly enjoyed the first quarter.

BTW, for the attention of all American Freepers India is 10.5 hours ahead of the United States East Coast Time in Winter and 9.5 hours ahead of the U.S. East Coast Time in Summer when Daylight Saving starts.

As, far as the West Coast is concerned and the Pacific North West India is 13.5 hours ahead in Winter and 12.5 hours ahead in Summer.

When I was living in the Southern United States in Atlanta, Georgia from 1998-2002 I often attended matches in Athens involving the "Georgia Bull Dogs" The University Football Team of the University of Georgia.

I must have attended 6 games in all in the fall of 2000 and hence my interest in the game inspite of the fact that I am living in India at present.

Regards and Wishes to all supporters of the Steelers and the SeaHawks.

Bearwash-- I hope you got my private message which I had sent on Saturday.

Allegra -- I am praying for your safety in Iraq.

In Jesus and Mary,

The replay that showed the defender did touch the quarterback when he was going down and the ground caused a fumble.

You are arguing that all the calls went against Seattle, but in that case, they turned that one back to Seattle, who retained possession on that play.

This was the worst Super Bowl I have ever seen. From the terrible National Athlem, to the "Fix is in" by the officals, to the worst half time show, to the "Fix is still in the 2nd half", to the end of the game. One sorry game.

The Steelers deserved more than just a "gimme"!

"Maineman is a pathetic shi**y lying loser."(I edited for language, although your post is still available.)

Then you write:

Petronski wrote: "Namecalling and vulgarity are two sure signs that you are losing."

Unless you're the one doing it? I don't know why, but I'm surprised to hear this coming from you.

The officiating was bad, imo. I've read it in every sports write up this morning with one exception and in that article officiating wasn't mentioned at all. ESPN commentators are saying it this morning. I watched the game with a room full of people and most, if not all were hoping for a Steelers' win. All agreed the officiating was horrible. That doesn't mean Pittsburgh would have or should have lost, or that everyone that acknowledges it is a Seattle fan and/or whiner. It's just an opinion, apparently held by many who watched it with their own eyes.

Congratulations to all Steelers' fans on the victory.

following a bogus holding call

See comment number three.

Face it, Seattle did not play a great game, they did not have the stats, the key plays and the consistency to win. Blaming the refs is just sour grapes.

Saying Seattle would have scored if that holding play had not been called is like saying that Pittsburgh would NOT have scored if the phantom touchdown had not been called.

Yeah, and when a University of Texas grad thinks OU got the short end, you KNOW they got the short end.

There were a lot of key dropped passes by the Hawks, and badly timed penalties. And in the end going 5 of 17 on 3rd down conversions will kill a team.

As will settling for 3 yard pass plays in the dink-and-dunk WCO. Seattle had the Steelers on the ropes for the first 20 minutes of the game and couldn't seal the deal. Even if you give them the offensive pass interference call, they come up with only 7 points.

If the Seahawks take advantage of the Steelers offense sleepwalking through the first quarter, and the defense sucking wind and on its heels, the game is over before it starts.

Instead, the good guys take the early hits, shut down the hawks offense in the 2nd quarter and take the lead into halftime. 75 yards and half a minute into the second half, the rout is on. Only the untimely interception kept it close.

ESPN Poll: Do you think the officating mistakes affected the outcome of the superbowl.

Currently 48 states say yes, PA and WV say no.

So much for the Steeler apologists' claim that it is just Seattle sour grapes.

Yes, they never showed any profiles of Seahawk players. It was a dead give away that the winner had been predetermined.

Right, the refs tried to give it to the Steelers and couldn't, because of the instant replay. They couldn't get away with that one.

Allegra -- I am praying for your safety in Iraq.

Thank you and God bless you.

If you ever get to Houston, stop in and see our beautiful Reliant Stadium.

Maybe eventually the team will be worth seeing as well.

But I love my Texans anyway. :-)

They'll never get any respect by the Sports media.

Probably true. Good thing I don't care all that much for the sports media...they seem much like their parent MSM...although for different reasons. The only problem is that it means the Seahawks will always be robbed in big games to satisfy the big story that the media has been flogging.

What happened to the Texans this year? Y'all swept the Titans in 2004 - I was expecting it again because we stunk. Oh, well. Y'all should trade down and stock up on OL. Sack. Sack. Sack. 3 yard run. Sack. Sack. Sack.

Hi. You didn't ask me the question, but, the Texans have had a rough year as you know. I don't know the exact problem, but it is sad that the team just hasn't jelled as a team. Coach Capers was fired recently and Gary Kubiak (sp) has been hired. Whether that will fix the problem is anyone's guess. I wish they'd hire Vince Young.

On a side note, the Rolling Stones were terrible. Time to draw the curtains on them. Just my O.

because of the instant replay

And who makes the call on the instant replays? Answer..............the same refs!

Here is the long and short of the refs calls on the game:

Pittsburgh Phantom touchdown .... OK, take seven off the board for Pittsburgh. Now it is 4th and inches..........Field goal? at least, maybe a touchdown. Net effect: minus four for Pittsburgh.

Seahawks Offensive pass interference: He did push off, but was it enough to justify a call? maybe maybe not. Seahawks go on to score a field goal on that drive. Net effect Seahawks + 4

Seahawks --- No Catch at the one yardline. That was the right call. Net effect none.

Pittsburgh --- Fumble recovery. Overturned. Refs made the right call on replay. Net effect none.

Seahawks -- Holding call negating first and ten at the one. Is that what it comes down to, a holding call? Holding can be called on just about any play, it is usually only called when flagrant. Seattle still had the ball and still had opportunity.

Final Score: Pittsburgh 17 Seattle 14.
