i thought he was staying in no matter what.
cool.
HARRISBURG, PA (February 7, 2007) GOP gubernatorial candidate Bill Scranton today announces his withdrawal from the field in the race for Pennsylvania governor. In a statement released to the press, Scranton expresses his hope and confidence in the message of reform that embodied his candidacy from start to finish. However, he stated that he is, Less convinced in our ability to win the precinct-by-precinct battles. We are strong but not strong enough to defeat a candidate that has received near unanimous backing of the state and national parties.
Good job Scranton! Go LS!!!
It's official, according to his website:

Scranton drops out! Pinglists please.
Ping!
Sweet!
Rush said today that during the Steelers superbowl celebration downtown, when Swann got up to speak the crowd was chanting "Governor, Governor"
Either way, I hope Swann tramples Fast Eddy.
Voters in Scranton Pennsylvania will not be voting this year?
The double thumbs up Swannie gave the crowd on Sunday must have made Scranton choke on a Dorito.
That must be a real bummer for all those who still live in Scranton.... Not being able to vote and all, ya know. 8<)
this is cooool
gee, I wish Petro in Ohio would drop out of the Governor's race.
With Swann attracting a big GOP turn-out, this could save Rick Santorum. Good news indeed.
Just kiddin...glad to hear this!
Interesting... very interesting. I have to wonder if Swann being introduced at the Super Bowl on Sunday made Scranton throw up his hands. How does anyone buy that much publicity? ;~))
NO SUBTERFUGE HERE. At least he was honest about it.
The Philadelphia Daily News reported last week that Gov. Ed Rendell was asked at a state budget meeting last week whether it was a coincidence the big charts he used were colored Steelers black and gold.
Rendell, a huge Philadelphia Eagles fan and TV commentator who appears increasingly likely to face a re-election challenge from Swann, the former Steeler, promptly fessed up.
"No, it's not a coincidence," he said. "This is outright pandering."
Nice!!
Now if we could only get Petro to do the same in Ohio which would clear the path for Blackwell....
